An amazing wine. Tor and Jeff's work is sublime. We decanted for 4 hours, which is marginally enough with Tor's wines and the integrity of the taste was amazing. We had this with prime rib and also had a decanter of 2010 JP Backus. The table was evenly split between the two wines but Tor's wines are so well integrated in had a intrinsic effect. Still has a few years to run, I'm so glad I still have a bit …

Drank over several nights via coravin and then letting each glass breath 2-4 hours. Even with that air this seemed pretty disjointed. Not super expressive and very acidic tasting. I purchased this recently from retail and thought perhaps it hadn’t been stored right. It just didn’t have the intensity I usually get on To Kalon cabs as well as from Tor’s other wines. After a few glasses via coravin I popped the cork and let this sit opened all day …

Delicious! cherry fruit on the nose and in the taste. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like vanilla. It tastes like raisin, strawberry jam and blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry cream liquor, currant, mocha and spice. Black raspberry, cassis, vanilla cream, spice and crushed rock on the palate. Very long finish with excellent balance. Full bodied. Drinking beautifully. Served with venison and a cherry pinot noir sauce.

1 hour decant and open for business. Currant, blueberry, sage, mineral and underbrush cruise towards a long vanilla-tinged finish. Tannins completely resolved. Expressive and ready to drink.

No decant required, the Beckstoffer fruit is vibrant. In its peak, not worried about decline for another 18 months.

Super surprising. Tasted single blind and thought it was merlot with the softness (tricked by the vintage) and how amazingly open and expressive it was. Definitely modern. Not too weighty but in that style.

Decanted for an hour and then drunk over the entire evening. Deep purple color, big bouquet of dark fruit and cedar. Wine is certainly in its drinking window with big upfront fruit, smooth tannins, good acidity and dryness along with a long finish of rich fruit and wood. The wine was phenomenal with NY Prime Strip with onions and mushrooms that were sautéed in the wine that didn’t make it into the decanter.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of black raspberry, currant, mocha, anise and baking spice. Ripe black fruit, mocha, anise and spice on the palate. Elegantly balanced with a long lingering finish. Full bodied. A gorgeous wine that is drinking very well. Served with reverse seared ribeye steaks and blue cheese, black truffle butter.

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag : Double blind. Aromas of coffee, black fruit, green tobacco and mole sauce. Complex and deep. Chewy, slightly plush tannins. Cherry, currant, plum and spice flavors with a long finish. Guessed 2012 Napa cab. (T&L)

100% cab. % ABV. I let it breathe for 2 hours. Drank over 2. Dried out cork broke on opening. When I took my first whiff I was sure this bottle was ruined. Lots of funk, spice and eucalyptus. But alas note the case. Really pure fruit, even if not the best fruit I've had. Sour, cedar, graphite notes. Perfect acidity level and has a long juicy finish. Clearly a well made wine. Maybe the cork did let it down …

Amazed at the structure of this wine even at 10 years of age. Very much Bordeaux in style with red currant, cedar, smoke, a touch of road tar, and a tannic, but pure finish. What gives this away as new world is the creme de cassis, but it is not as pronounced as others might suggest. This is a well built wine with complexity and structure that will last for years to come. Decanted for 1 hour, but wished I …

Nice, tannins resolved with a few hours in decanter. Smooth and delicious without any edges. Enjoyed half the next day after nitro spray and it was as good or better than day one. Shows terroir equally as fruit. I usually find it easy to recognize Beckstoffer Tokalon perfume with a good sniff. Not so with this bottle. Top notch!

Always like these wines when dining with a group. Well made and have all the oak one could ever want. For me, that is too much. But, still way better than having to order off the hick town wine list.

Tasty wine. Light color, decanted for 40 minutes might not have needed it. Nice nose, very different from other To Kalons I have had. Hints of raspberries and blue berry on the nose, but the taste was completely strawberries which was very surprising. Nice wine not sure if it is the ideal choice for a steak, but good wine for sure.

Blind CA Cult Cab Tasting (Snohomish, WA) : Tasted blind. (Group's #2 (my #3)) – 3 first place votes, 4 second place votes, 5 third place votes – The nose had aromas of mixed berries and grape jelly. The palate had primary flavors and really came across as grapey. It was still a very delicious bottle of wine, but it was surprising how simple this was in comparison to the wines that we had been tasting during the evening. I …

Holy smokes. Big nose of chocolate and smoke. Some ripe dark fruits. The palate is medium weight after pop, but gained weight by the minute. Delicious, structured and full of dark chocolate, nice berry flavors and berry liquor. A little oak present. Long, sweetly tannic finish. Great wine.
