My first ever of this one (from a 375) and wasn't quite sure what to expect given that it's a solera style going back so far. Turns out, I needn't have been worried about it at all....... Pnp'd for our group at the end of our food courses last night. Dark amber/mid brown in the glass, Nose is primarily raisin dominant with a hint of chocolate and honey. The palate had a deep and creamy mouth feel to it, but …

Gęste, ciemne, rubinowo-hebanowe. Klasyk. Zapach jest dosyć świeży i żwawy – owocowy. Ciemne bardzo dojrzałe śliwki, suszone śliwki kalifornijskie, rodzynki, melasa. Świetna równowaga pomiędzy suszonymi i bardzo dojrzałymi ciemnymi owocami. Bardzo kuszący, sexy. Usta o średniej nawet!!! kwasowości, gęste, ze świetnym balansem pomiędzy mocnym cukrem a kwasem i owocem. Strasznie gęsta oleista faktura. Turbo długa końcówka – z suszoną śliwką kalifornijską, daktylami, figami i ciastem czekoladowym. Genialne.

Mini-ESTG with smoky steaks (Newcastle, WA) : Intense raisin, thick and figgy stuff. As Jason surmised, a nice match with chocolate.

Clear deep yellow cola; clean pronounced nose of stewed figs, baking spices and caramel; sweet; high acidity; low tannins; high alcohol; full body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate follows nose; long finish; drink now or in 10 years - still going strong; intense syrupy pleasure; not blinded

The nose was punishment. It stung the nostrils with kerosine, furniture polish, and eventually wet cardboard. You could smell a bit of raisin behind all of this if you were able to make it past the primary punishing onslaught. The palate wasn't nearly as offensive as the insane amount of sugar goes a long way. Still, it was raisin, sugar, kerosine and cardboard. Horribly corked and maybe some VA.

Let’s describe this differently given 8 people tried it with desserts and some cheeses. 2 did not care for it 1 thought it was good 5 felt that it was incredibly delicious and unlike anything they have tried before. This really is an excellent pairing with strong cheeses and can imagine it would go well with spicy dishes.

Bottled opened a while back but only a small pour taken until now. Tootsie roll, date and fig, intense barleywine fruity malty sweetness. Burned caramel, maple. Just a whisp of new leather or sweet tobacco. Need to try it on ice cream or with a bleu cheese and take notes again.

This is the first time I have had a bottle out of the cellar in a decade. Consistent with 2014 notes. Very thick and sweet, but had nice character. Nuts, maple syrup. I really enjoyed it. NOTE - this is a sweet wine (more than most). It is much better with blue cheese, than with a sweet dessert.

I haven't had PX in a long time. Lighter than I was remembering or thinking - not that it is light. It is sweet and intense, but with acidity, not as cloying as I was prepared for. Fig, raisin, burnt notes, maple of course. I can sip it on its own as dessert with nuts. Classic with ice cream. Definitely worthwhile to check out from time to time. The length is really long and enjoyable. Mmmmm. PS - this bottle …

I took it to served as a desert wine for the Mooncake we took after the wonderful dinner held by J Family. It was jammy and smooth, coffee, toast, not too sweet, and enjoyable.

The end of our Father's Day party - a few of my friends and relatives came back to my house. My daughter opened this and gave me a glass and I sipped it and sat back in awe. This is a great dessert wine. Figs, dates, candied nuts, a touch of honey, maybe hints of guava thrown in. It is very rich, and you can't drink too much of it so I probably shouldn't have had a second glass. I …

I’ve held on to this bottle for 10+ years, and while I’ve kept it in a dark, cool cellar - I was surprised by how coffee-dark this sherry was when brought into the sunlight of our patio… it opened with a strong nose of raisins, sweet prunes, dates, walnuts and concentrated, old honey. A super unctuous, super thick, concentrated syrupy body of raisins with strong balsamic notes. Almost too thick for my liking, coating the wine glass not unlike motor …

A Remarkable Wine Evening with Atlanta Oenophiles at Brasserie Margot (Atlanta, GA) : Tasted at the "Out of Towners' Dinner" at Brasserie Margot in the Four Seasons Atlanta. Given the rapid succession of wines at this social event, I wrote down only my score and some brief notes. It created a perfect bridge between the savory and sweet portions of our meal, complementing …

Funny enough, a little too viscous for my palate now. I used to love this, but it's a bit too thick to enjoy en masse. Raisin, walnut, cocoa, toffee - toasted notes. Still very enjoyable and paired with Roquefort straight up. It's lacking acidity - otherwise it would be a knockout.

Opened this a few months ago and might have given it an 86-88. Forgot about it in my fridge and felt like revisiting it tonight after some st. Emilion. Absolutely loved it tonight. It was rich and syrupy with raisin, dates, and caramel but stayed in balance. Truly a dessert wine and perfectly opulent.

A classic PX expression. This should be the reference point to anyone aiming to understand the style. Unctuous concentrated dried fruit, caramel, toffee, chocolate, and spice flavors, and a very long almost everlasting finish. Easily 350+ g/l RS..

The oldest Solera blend of the estate. It spent on average more than 50 years in American oak casks, with some lots going back to 1830. Glass staining brown. Intense on the nose and palate. Typical PX flavor profile with raisin, fruit cake, spice. Thick and syrupy. It's just even more intense and concentrated than average PX given when this Solera started. There's a little streak of acidity that keeps it from being too sweet and with dessert, it tastes …

What an impressive experience to be able to taste something so old. The first thing I thought of when pouring it was actually motor oil (as already described in a tasting note). Incredibly thick and almost creamy. It really is veeeery sweet, frankly a little too much for my taste. Nevertheless, a great experience.

One of things to be thankful for on Thanksgiving is that PX is the solution to all complex dessert pairings. This bottling consistently and ridiculously overachieves, with fig, raisin, chocolate, and molasses. Did great duty pairing w pumpkin and pecan pies.

I guess I’m just not a sherry guy. I enjoy a vintage port, and so I purchased this in 375mL format as my introduction to the world of sherry. The flavors are, as promised, infinitely complex (see many other reviews for colorful descriptions thereof), but to me it has the cloying sweetness and viscosity of maple syrup. I’m not joking when I say this would be a candidate to pour over my buttermilk pancakes, if I allowed myself to drink …

Deep dark mahogany in color with a pronounced watery meniscus. Very lively and aromatic nose of sweet dried black raisins, prunes, and Turkish figs. The palate is on the fuller side of full-bodied, very rich, very viscous, expectedly very syrupy and sweet but not cloying as if you are sipping canned fruit syrup since there is a very balanced degree of natural fruit acidity that makes it very drinkable and delicious. The alcohol is slightly protruding which was rather surprising …

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of one week. The 2011 pours a deep, burnt sienna color with a near opaque core; high viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of dried dark fruits: sukkari dates, fig jam, Nutella, Gebrannte Mandeln (those German candied nuts that are so delicious). On the palate, the wine is sweet with medium- acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and …

Not much to add to what others have said here. Just an unbelievable sticky. Off the chart nose of golden sultanas, fig, roasted nuts and caramel. High viscosity on the palate that literally envelopes and saturates the entire mouth leading to a long seemingly everlasting finish. Miraculous paired with Cabrales Blue Cheese drizzled with honey. Likely elevated triglyceride level a 100 points on a 4 oz. pour. Wish I had more.

This wine is dark amber on the eye. Its alluring aroma of walnuts precedes a rich palate of fig, raisin, and nuts, evoking images of a bowl filled with candied dates and caramel. Intense, concentrated, and evolving gracefully with a long, lingering finish. Perfectly paired with cheese.
