Had with chicken w/ artichokes, lemons and olives... The richness of the wine balanced this dish well.

Last noted 6/15. Color: Slightly cloudy medium-deep yellow with nice, long legs. Bouquet of beeswax, honey, lanolin with vanilla and citrus with the Roussanne-ish element of lychee nut coming through stronger than last time. Palate is fairly extracted (not unexpected) and plump with grapefruit, vanilla and fresh-cut flowers. Nice intensity and definition with adequate acidic cut but with more weight than other Cali Chards I usually drink. Long finish that is showing a touch of the 14.9% alcoholic heat that …

Powerful rich waxy aromas with Aubert like yeasty vanilla quality that I found alluring. Palate was quite showy and big with a fat lush quality that was more apricot and peach vs apple. The wine was interesting yet lacked acid and came across like a Rousanne as others have noted. Some felt this wine was a hot mess and others like myself, found it good to very good, but needing more lift. A bit of an odd ball.

Cool Wine Tasting Group - Chardonnay from around the world (Elgin) : (Tasted Blind) A mid+ yellow colour. Aromas of yellow stone fruits, oranges, and peaches, with hints of honey, indicate some development. This is a lovely palate entry with soft oak integration. It is richly textured with juicy acidity and a fleshy mid-palate with Granny Smith apple and lemon. Medium-bodied, it has a light mineral grip and a medium to long length. It is a nicely balanced wine.

John and Lorraine Alban's inaugural vintage (okay, for me at least -- I see there are notes for 2011) of their North wines (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir). Color: Slightly cloudy medium-deep yellow with nice, long legs. Opened and let breathe in glass for 20-30 minutes; improved notably as it sat and warmed closer to room temp. Bouquet of beeswax, honey, lanolin with vanilla and citrus and a touch of lychee nut. Palate is fairly extracted (not unexpected) and plump with …

Melon, tropical fruits and wet stone on the nose; palate is crisp with good acidity - chablis-like. Medium-bodied, but falls off on the finish. Good.

this is an excellent value chardonnay. Medium body with slight acidity and some tannin. Nice fruit that holds up to spicy dishes.

Agree with sumshark. If I didn't know this was a Chardonnay I would have also said Roussanne. Fortunately I like Roussanne so I enjoyed this.

Tasted more like a Roussanne than a Chardonnay

Soter + Oregon Chard -- rcih in the mid, very tight in the back smells lactic on the front. Maybe not the most harmonious Chardonnay I have ever had yet popular to some.

Nice enough wine. Good weight, clean, round, the slightest hint of oak (for roundness, not flavor), I'd actually like it crisper. They're going for a macon-style I guess and it works, but not for the price. You can get as good or better wines from the actual macon for less.

Chardonnay Tweet up in Elgin (Cape Town) : Light to mid yellow in colour with soft oatmeal, white peach, cream aroma. Soft and smooth on the palate, quite linear yet some richness and underscored by crisp acidity. Apple flesh and apple skin flavours. Gentle mid+ finish.
