It smells like cherry and light toast. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like cherry and dill. The wine looks ruby colored. The wine has silky texture.

This tasting was done independently of my 6/16/2016 & 6/11/2017 tastings of the same wine and vintage; nose of fruit & alcohol, a full-bodied, complex Pinot, notes of rhubarb, pears, cherries, embedded in minerals, earth; a teasing, long finish, comparable to the best Pinots from Los Carneiros; the extra aging was apparently well worth the wait; pair with wild-caught Coho salmon, gas grilled on a cedar board

Fun black cherry and berry with trace cherry cola hints and slightly sweet spice. Good now.

I like it more than I did a year ago. Black cherry, blueberry, forest floor, cola. Medium body and finish. Medium-plus acidity. Went well with roasted duck.

Light red colour, typical Pinot noir nose, surprisingly goo maybe a little lack in complexity but frankly a very good buy!

this review was written independently of my other two reviews of this wine and vintage; medium to heavy foil, real cork, darker than most pinot noirs, fast legs, not vinturied but let sit for 20 minutes after opening; weak nose is reminiscent of grain, full bodied (unlike the majority of pinot noirs), hints of plums & other stone fruits, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, Meyer lemon; finish is short, the full body is welcome but the overall effect doesn't justify its price

I am in the same as Frontenac, this is not something special at least not to my palate and from what i have tried of other Pinot Noirs. You sense the alcohol that gives some warmth and notes from sweet prunes, velvety cherry. I think the differences in color of the label ( black or white ) maybe has something to do with where in the world is being sold. I have had other Pinot´s at a much cheaper scale …

Solid fruit forward budget California Pinot. This wine won't win any awards for complexity, but it is enjoyable to drink.

N: Cherries (with a jammy component) & undertones of mushrooms P: MF body; Almost swtish frt on the front, spice entering before the LONG, firm finish. Other than the front P, not particularly pleasant. :( 91 pts WE (12/31/15) @ $25. [As of late Sept '19, wine-searcher still shows 2 sources @ $20]. Note: Also tasted on 4/6/16

Decanted about 3 hours before consuming. Translucent ruby red. Cranberry, cherry, strawberry, cola, and black tea. Medium-plus acidity. Medium-minus body. Minimal tannin. Medium-short finish. It's a solid wine for the price but nothing special.

nothing special. Typical Cal. pinot noir. It seems that Cal. simply isn't the place to grow pinot noir that tastes like the REAL PINOT NOIR. Oregon and New Zealand come much closer, and can be very good, especially for the price. How this got such a high score I don't know. Mine was white label. That may account for my low score, and , also, that I usually drink French, Oregon, and, when available, New Zealand pinot noir.

Darker and more earthy than a typical California Pinot. Nothing special but good. Upper-80s

Seems like there are two Los Carneros Pinots within this entry...a black label Limited Release, and a white label. Mine was the white label, and I got it at CostCo, so I assume it's a more mass distributed wine, which is pretty much how it came across. Nothing special or outstanding about it, but it was an easy drinking Pinot and was a bit heavier than most Carneros Pinots.

Second bottle. Decanted for @ 1 hour. My original comments remain unchanged. A delicious Pinot Noir drinking well now with luxurious fruit, good tannins, well balanced.

Rich deep purple color. Prunes and cherries on the nose. Deep, rich, full bodied, luxurious, silky smooth dark cherry, raspberry, chocolate on the palate. Incredible! This is a real surprise. It is an outstanding Pinot Noir, drinking well now and should continue to do so for at least another 5 years. At this price point this wine represents tremendous value!!!

14.5% alcohol, thick foil, real cork, darker than most pinot noirs, fast legs, not vinturied but let sit for 20 minutes after opening; weak nose is reminiscent of grain, full bodied (unlike the majority of pinot noirs), hints of plums & other stone fruits, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, Meyer lemon; finish is short, the full body is welcome but the overall effect doesn't justify its price

N: Initially bright aromas of wild strawberries giving way over time to herbaceousness with possibly just a bit of barnyardy scents underneath. P: M, poss MF body; EXC attack with nice fruit & acidity; Lingering finish with a touch of harshness & a bit of spice. Day 2: Fruit seems, if anything, more forward, the finishing harshness down from Day 1. As an earlier reviewer stated, a Pinot for Cab drinkers rather than [my addition] lovers of the elegant, subtle …
