Murky ruby at the core, lightening out to translucence on the rim; "savory", red-fruited nose that is fairly appealing. Seamless on the palate, with reasonable persistence on the finish, but what I would describe as a "hole" in the mid-palate. Still, one of my better showings for this wine, which I would consider mature at this point. Probably best to think about getting these in the "drink now" section of your cellar.

Popped & poured - similar in color to the Berserker's Cuvee. Red-fruited nose, but otherwise undistinguished. Also light bodied on the palate, with the acidity a little more pronounced here. I tend to like Altare's Ligurian whites better, but this does qualify on the "wine geek" scale because of it's grape composition - Bonamico, Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo. Tart on the finish.

This may have been a little darker fruited than ideal for the salmon we paired it with, but the weight and style were in the right place, and it worked well afterwards with a foot massage for my wife while the contractions of early labor were getting going, and so was a nice precursor to my second son's arrival. Anyway, deepish ruby in color with moderate transparency. Funk on the nose gave way with a little air to black and …

PnP straight out of storage. Color is deep purple lightening to fuchsia at the edge. This wine has softened considerably with the tannin integrating, moderate fruit and dirt, and more balance. Darker berry aromas and flavors with some earthy forest, mushroom and mint. Fruit, then acid, then tannin. Drank with dinner of long-simmered chicken, tomatoes, mushroom and stock over cheese grits. Better this time than nine months ago. The wine has improved over the 45 minutes after opening with more …

I didn't take proper notes on this one, but it was a nice, mid-weight, food friendly wine that nicely straddled fruit and rusticity. Good with red sauces/soups and lighter fare.

PnP. Some fruit. Lots of tannin. Notes of sour cherry and perhaps plum and blackberry. Acids on the finish help to balance the tannin. Did not drink with food. On the simple side. Good.

Like this wine; light to medium bodied, good terroir, low alcohol, nice fruit but balanced with acid, a little pricey but would drink again; drank with pizza.

A murky but still translucent ruby in the glass; nose kind of comes & goes on this popped & poured wine. There is an attractive spiciness to the nose that I like. Light-bodied for a red (per the label, 12.5% alcohol, so this is not surprising). Slightly tannic/acerbic on the finish. Certainly pleasant enough, albeit nothing memorable.

Was hoping to like this more since Cinque Terra is one of my favorite places I have visited in Italy. Love the white wines and seafood there. The wine is just not that interesting/distinctive. Perhaps it will improve some with a couple of years of cellar time as it is still quite young.

Similar to my previous note. Tannic with fruit peeking out. medium bodied but light. Low alcohol but lots of flavor. We enjoyed this wine with grilled chicken. Would drink again. Not a cheap bottle but interesting and worth finding.

Good fruit but lots of tannin, enjoyed with pizza; low alcohol 12.5%; drank easily on a summer's eve; will drink again. The type of wine we like but that is not that easy to find.

Not much on the nose. Agreeable, some acidity, but to showing much on palate at this point. Perhaps to youthful, so will reserve score for future bottles.

The score represents my opinion on the QPR of this wine. It's rather simple but very fruity- medium-light bodied. Quaff it with BBQ or seafood in a red sauce. It's not built for the cellar. That being said, I love what this wine represents. It's from a region that's not known for its reds, but rather its white. If you've ever traveled to the Cinque Terre, this wine if from a vineyard in Riomaggiore. Having spent time in this town, …
