Gutierrez Colosia Amontillado Solera Familiar

From a half bottle; medium amber color with green tinges. Magnificent on the nose: Wood polish, aldehyde any many more impressions. Wonderfully complex. On the palate completely dry with almost searing aging notes. then the wine becomes more mellow and is exquisitely balanced. long, long finish! Fantastic experience, but - for its intensity -not for everyone at the table.

Unreal long finish. Nutty and salty, with caramel notes. Drank over two days and would have been no problem to stretch it out for more. This Solera product is an awesome sherry and will hold for a long time to come.

Progressive note over five days: Paler than the Oloroso. More nutty, less dried fruit, some caramel. Slightly lighter style of Amontillado with more noticable sea spray/flor than most, and delicious for it - still round and very nutty. Interestingly, a finish of prune and raisin

Peanutty, buttery flor-inflected character, fascinating considering its 60 years (uncertified vors, taking the rep at his word). Herbal background, big & potent.
