A late night open. A very serious and borderline austere wine. Nice spices and acidity. Open for business but definitely needs a lot of air. I do worry if it has enough fruit to hold up to the structure over the long term though.

Slightly sour red cherries, with some earth and oak, decent complexity, but a bit thin and acidic. This bottle was a bit past its prime.

Nose is pushing secondary. Sweet aged berry perfume and suis bois transition to the palate. Fruit turns darker with a mostly harmonious midpalate. Finish gets a touch rustic. Nice overall and in a good spot. Needed some air.

PnP at Bon Temps. Fairly open aromatically, smells of baking spices and macerated fruits. Palate is dark red fruits, high minerality and some unresolved tannin. Showing some charm but I’d hold a few more years though it’s drinking now. Good QPR for the $50 I paid.

Dunkles Rubinrot Brombeeren,Johannisbeeren, erdig, wenig kräuterig, leicht floral,aetherisch-minzig. Gute Tiefe, seidig, kraftvoll, anfangs leicht prägnante Säure, mittlerer Körper, integrierte Tannine,Potential. Mittellanger dunkler Abgang. 2010 kann man eigentlich alles(nach-) kaufen, wenn der Preis stimmig ist. Einfach gut.

Taste: good fruit, but most prominent is the acidity – although not to sharp –, that dominates the attack as well as the mid-palate. But the finish is very, very good. Excellent oak, I guess. I would keep this for at least another year. 91-93.
