JD Friday Wine Group - GA Host (Dinner) (City Club FW - Oak Bar) : Tasted blind - in my experience, when an Eisele Cab is on the table, it is usually my favorite wine. So this one was my favorite of the tasting, so I thought this was the Eisele. Host decanted 4-5 hours before serving. Amazing medicinal cherry (mostly cherry) nose; deep and dark in the glass; high acid, beautiful red fruit on the palate. Delicious, and ready …

Popped into the decanter and blueberry smoothie and floral perfume filled the kitchen Tried the first glass at two hours and the result was not unexpected blueberries blueberries blueberries everywhere, of course blueberries on the nose, blueberries on the palate, still a bit structured, and amazingly at nine years old still very young, seemingly needing more air. 96 at this point. This is where I erred. At three hours, the nose has become muted, the palette is simply tart, but …

Daaang. This is the quintessential Stag's Leap wine. Terroir is well represented here. Even though this one is ready to drink right now even from the time the Stelvin is cracked, this one would sit on the table all night and slow ox quite well and change just about every hour. Even 15 minutes of air gave this one twice as much blackberry cassis. The nose is hedonistic blackberry pie. Youthful fruit. Tons of it. Also some roasted walnut and …

Wife's 40th birthday dinner with friends. 3 Hour decant along side 2016 Dakota Shy Social Currency and 2015 Prince of Hearts. Sames tasting notes as last bottle. Only difference is the 1.5 is aging slower than the smaller bottles.

Opened along side 2012 Lail J Daniel and it was the bottle everyone returned to. Same notes and quality as last bottle(s).

Why do I feel guilty for loving a non-boutique operation? Fantastic representation of Stags Leap. PNP with a beautiful nose and a long finish. Triple the price at release of the first label which might be easier to justify now that the brand is established and the non reserve pricing is $150+. I have yet to touch 13, 14 or 15 reserve. Jeff Owens has done an amazing job with this wine. Looking for a boutique option? Maybe Futo 5500 …

PNP. Beautiful nose with black & red fruit. Deep purple color. Still very full bodied considering some bottle age. I still think this wine needs time in the bottle to integrate and with that hopefully age will bring some earth tones into the mix. 98 for now with upside. Day two: same notes with very little change.

Everything RP said it was, and almost what he says it can be. Needs another 3-5 years for full potential decanted 3 hrs, tried, it needed more. After 4 hrs, oh my! Dark and brooding. Faint coffee and berries and the nose. The palate was wow! Blueberry, coffee, blueberry pie with a hint of smokiness that complimented everything else. Blackberry and blackberry jam on a medium-long finish. Screw top bottle but no ill effects.

incredible, delectable, young but had to taste it, decanted it for 2 hours, was not dissappointed. was delightful with a 2 inch prime cut bone in rib eye. extraordinary, need to lay hands on some more. Anxious to see what 10 years does for it.

Wow wine! It's remarkably balanced in its youth. Watch out Hillside Select. There's serious competition in Stag's Leap-but Shafer's Hillside Select is $100 less per bottle than Odette Reserve.

Could hit triple digits in a few years. I'm so happy they put a screw cap on some of them, thus forcing me to open it earlier than I otherwise might. Just outstanding juice. Great right away and just keeps opening up.

Amazing. Superb. Wonderful. Wait. It's too early to drink. I opened one bottle and decanted for 3 hours. Simply too young.
