Uni Showdown (AMI) : A simple opener, as it was related to me, except nothing simple about this cuvee - perhaps relative to what was about to come but still a gorgeous drink. Fresh with youthful verve and electricity. Green apples, fresh apricots, straw, baked bread and chrysanthemum dominate the bouquet. Palate is zippy with depth and energy - really enjoyable today with loads of runway.

super fine bead , very Vigourous bead pale lemon colour 15/15 Nose subtle aroma of flinty minerality Palate medium bodied great balance and length , slight residue sugar probably around 7g/l overall nice bubbles rich and balanced 10/11 Delamotte Blanc de Blancs age on lees enjoys a staggering four or five years before disgorgement. Ageing after disgorgement continues to perfect the finesse and elegance of this cuvée.

Lunch at La Trompette : Pale to middling straw. A touch of brioche. Decent mousse. Relatively rounded and gentle. Nicely creamy. Develops a warm butter character on the mid palate with air. ****

Lunch at La Trompette : Pale to middling straw. A little fresher on the nose than the 02 alongside. Similarly fresher on the palate, white flowers and good line. Evolution profile similar between the two but the vintage characteristics really showing to the fore. Fresh and lovely with a lightness and cut. ****

Liked it but was quit a random brut champagne in style. Maybe bottle age will add some feelings?

Great texture. Brioche notes. Lemon custard, but it’s like they also added the whole lemon instead of only the juice and zest because the aftertaste was slightly bitter.

Lemony nose, orange peel, lime Creamy, tastes a bit sweet, and blurry. Perhaps I've been drinking too much English wine recently but this made me long for a razor edged Sussex blanc de blancs. Disappointing.

Very pretty wine still not showing too much age still. Very crisp with tart apple and lots of linear minerality. Great body and mouthfeel with a long clean finish. This was perfect with a lobster salad on a summer evening.

Chardonnay. Brut.

Drinking better than some other 2002s lately, this was still feisty, if not especially fizzy. Solid, but not exceptional -- balanced, with just a hint of back-end bitterness. Still pale in color, these can go for a while yet

Light gold color. Split two 375ml bottles between the three of us at the Waldorf in Chicago (SS/CS/KB). Very consistent with recent bottles. Fresh, lively orchard fruits, lightly toasty, biscuit, creamy texture, pear, sea air, wispy minerality. Loved it. Interestingly we had a bottle in between these two that was not right, had a burnt character to it completely different from the other two. 92+pts.

Delightful. Paired well with Koji duck confit and garlicky duck fat fried rice. Cut through the richness of the meal and was delicious during the prep work and cleanup, too!

Lemony nose, a touch grassy/ herbaceous Lovely fruit here - like sweet Sicilian lemons. Full finish, almonds croissants. This is good though not as good as I expected from the reputation. Also £60.

Cabotte Fourball - 24/06/24 (Cabotte, London) : Bready, yeasty, limey with some torn croissant too. With air some hints of macadamia emerge. Palate has some charming slatey minerality and is fresh youthful and chalky. Just so poised. If served blind I would have thought a 2012. Great start to the evening.

Mid straw. Fine bubbles. Taut, focused, crisp mousse. A touch of crème pat developing. Youthful early maturity. Lovely. A little more upfront than on the finish, but balanced, moderately complex, and interesting. A big step up on a couple of bottles enjoyed in 2016. Just need a bit of extra line and energy for top flight. ****

Easter Sunday Long Lunch (Crown Wine Cellars, 18 Deep Water Bay Drive, Shouson Hill, Hong Kong) : Light hay gold colour. Very fine bead. The nose is insanely good …ozone and toasted ‘Hovis’ brown bread and close to perfect. The palate follows through and takes in to a higher level…pinpoint acidity, very high piano notes, totally refreshing, crushed oyster shell. Long and explosively resonant in the head. Absolutely beautiful between four of us over a long Easter Sunday lunch. Bought …

Pale yellow/gold colour. Lovely clean nose. More mature than colour would indicate. Quite broad/rich on the entry but then firms up. Almond, lemon, hint of oyster shell. Became richer as it opened up further with air.
