Petaluma, Tiers Chardonnay, Piccadilly Valley

'Aged Aussies' Dinner (Joseph's Place, Wong Chung Hang, Hong Kong) : Served blind. Advanced deep gold. Caramel notes and toffee. Palate is similar... ripe melon with toffee poured over it and some marshmallows. Nicely buzzy on the finish. Interesting progression from when I last drank it 11 years ago but it is now over-mature. The best was probably somewhere in between.

Group de Degustation Diner, Octobre 2010 (Chez Patrick, 26 Peel Street, Central, Hong Kong) : Served blind with no indication of age or country of origin. Semi-golden colour. Nose is older Chardonnay which improved as it approached cool room temperature. Palate is a nice acidic backbone with some fresh lemon skins. I had this as a Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru 2004, by which I didn't mean to heap it wth praise but had it as "over-priced, mid-range white …
