Garnet. Cedar, muted mulberry, still some tannin but good balance. Past peak but still rather lovely.

Ready for drinking now. Great with Mandarin oranges. Oak remains quite heavy even after 30mins in the glass.

Cherries, flowers, and dark chocolate fill the aromatics. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, fresh, and juicy, with black cherries, plums. and chocolate, with a salty edge in the round-textured finish. This is going to be a pleasure to enjoy on release. The wine, is a parcel selection blending 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2026-2036. 90-92 Pts.

Quick decant. A bit one dimensional, yet it never really opened over 2 hrs. Hard to say how this develops; could be something greater lying under the surface or maybe just is what it is. Overall enjoyable but not remarkable.

I couldn't resist opening this, even though the consensus is its a bit early. It was very enjoyable, and thankfully I have several more bottles so I'll be able to see how it progresses over the years. I'll amend this note after each bottle. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and cherry. It tastes like chocolate and cherry. The body is medium. The wine has medium …

Dark garnet, aroma of bitter chocolate and cherries. Creamy oak, smoke and chocolate on the palate. Leathery and oaky. Very rich, but not that subtle. Probably far too young.

It may well be a second wine of Troplong Mondot, but the bottle makes no reference whatsoever to Troplong Mondot --- perhaps because the acclaimed mother chateau is ashamed of producing such an offspring. Even in this difficult year, it doesn't make the grade. Tried twice with similar results. Decent although unappealing fruit, brutally tannic, barely drinkable, devoid of pleasure. Decanting not much help.

Decanted and served. Rich, balanced mature St.-Emilion that showed beautifully with a brief decant. Amazing value but alas, my last bottle.

Second Sunday Group: 2013 Barolo (Neil's) : Courtesy of Marc. Dark color-youthful appearance. Tobacco, black fruit and green herbal notes. Dark fruit on the palate with a good finish. Turns out this was corked-however when I first had it I didn't pick it up at all. Only after had it been open for a while did I start to detect what others had picked up. It's nice to have a lesser sensitivity thanothers at times like this. My score reflects …

Pop and pour. This is showing beautifully with well-integrated fruit and tannins. Mature acid leads the palate with light herbal and floral notes present. At peak.

Decanted and served. Showing beautifully for such an inexpensive old wine. Not terribly complex but well-integrated aged red fruit, melted tannins, moderate acid. No point in aging further.

Dark maroon-red. Noticeable alcohol heat. Some nail polish/acetobacter too. Plump-looking, plush dense fruit aromas of blackcurrants, plums, cola, tobacco. Elevated acidity, big clunky feeling tannins. Kind of unbalanced right now. Finishes feeling chewy and astringent. Feel like it may be oxidised.

Working with wine 2019 seminar 1 - Bordeaux (Est. Restaurant, George Street, Sydney) : Lightweight (compared to other wines at the tasting) with aromas of pretty red berry, cherry, plums and, with time, a little blackcurrant cordial. Juicy, spicy, plummy, softly tannic, the fruit more savoury. This is rather pleasant in a quaffable and simple way.

Bought two cases from a Chicago source 13-14 years ago, in part because price was at or under 20/b (paperwork not handy), and have been enjoying this for years with a half dozen bottles left. Decanted with below-average sediment for Bdx of this age. Color is excellent, though not as vivid; full and fragrant nose, mature dark red fruit, bit of tanned leather; good finish. Around this plateau for the last several years without any sensory evidence of deterioration. Stored …

Wow. The smoothness and grace of age, but still has power and finesse. Classic Bordeaux hint of menthol in the nose, just a touch of earth and minerals in the mouth. Nice long, smooth finish. Probably at its peak now.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Our house) : Double blind. Very slight; reticent. Just barely a hint of dark berry fruit. Chalky, grippy tannins with a bit of dark fruit on the palate. I am convinced this wine has some low level TCA- not enough to show the musty/cardboard notes, but just enough to strip the wine of its fruit and character. Seeing this unveiled confirms for me the low-level taint.

Beautiful violet color. Clear wine. Complex nose, spicy, wet leather, wet earth, hint of dark cherry. Medium on palate. Nice tannins, soft texture. Medium finish. Very nice drink. Immensely better than 2006 vintage.

Second Sunday Group: Pinot Noir (Augie's) : Notes of red fruit, florals and perfume. Red fruit and plum flavors turn to darker fruit as the wine opens further. Hints of licorice and spice. Medium- to full-bodied and well-balanced. Long finish.

Pretty nose of dark cherries, bitter chocolate and smoke. This is authentic, classic St. Emilion with wonderful flavors of dark berries, smoky chocolate and boysenberries. The finish is austere and refreshing with firm tannins and dark minerals. Went beautifully with bbq'd grass-fed steak. Throwing a lot of sediment. Yum.

Thought it was corked at first -- just incredibly slow to develop. Strangely tart, however, so there's just something weird about the bottle. I'll see what's up with the next one.

I have had several bottles of this sine and didn't care for them as I think they were flawed. But oddly enough this bottle was outstanding. Dark in color. Earthy, with coffee and leather, and soft tannic finish. A classic Bordeaux.

Very sorry that my last bottle is gone. Not much of a nose at first, and not much in the glass for the first two hours. I thought I was unmanned by its subtlety. Then, around 3 hours in, it became complex -- not heavy, not overwhelming, just like a nice solo piano sonata. More Schubert than Schumann, or more Maurin Marais than Vivaldi, I guess.

Fantastic. Medium weight, not flashy, but with nice mouth feel and a bit of a menthol finish. I suspect this will continue to get better, given the tannins.

Surprised at the vibrant color at this stage. No real fruit smell but a hint of pencil lead. Smooth but no real taste of fruit at all. Not flawed but very tired tasting. My fault for not opening years ago. I guess I need to go thru all the 2000 Bordeauxs and check the drinking windows. Inexpensive mistake.

Mondot's second wine and a great effort and good value. There are pleasant florals and coco on the nose and pallet. They have made an enjoyable wine here that is in perfect harmony. More time needed of course but that's not getting in the way right now :)

Flock - 2000 Bordeaux Tasting (Dr. Tom's) : Reticent nose. Palate is light-bodied with harsh astringent tannins. Currant fruits are overwhelmed. Tight, tannic and bitter. For me stood out as the only unenjoyable wine of the night. My #6, Group #4.
