Dark garnet body. Nose has some tootsie roll, plum. Mouthfeel is very soft and light. Low tannins. Palate has dark fruit, licorice, smoked meat. Good stuff, and agreed its very French / Rhone-esque in style. Interesting how it gets 91+ here but only a 3.6 on Vivino, and speaks so loudly for why I trust the CT community on finding great wine.

Glossy, cherry & blueberry, firmness and nice tannins, dry and touch of menthol and chalk. Long finish and a bit tight. Very nice indeed.

European style Syrah. Much better than I expected. Purple and opaque with long legs that suggest significantly higher heat than 13.5% on the label. Red fruit on the nose with understated white pepper and vanilla. Palate is consistent with balanced acidity and structure. Medium mouth feel and a generous finish. Drinking well right now. Don’t think I’m going to wait on the next two bottles. 5+12+17+8=92

Very good Shiraz. Not particularly typical of Australian Shiraz, from Heathcotr and only 13.5% alcohol. Very good friendly and drinking excellently now. Great fruit and some spice and earth- not entirely surprising that this is made by Chapoutier.

Completely dry farm, organic, low yielding vines, concrete tank ferment, 10% new oak, 90% old oak, and macerates for a long time. 4 - 6 weeks of maceration. So the tannin drops out. Bigger, grippier but not assaulting I am being told and that is true. Again, quite savory.

Bright ruby red turning violet at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose is very earthy and rustic with qualities of saddle leather, blackberry, scorched earth, dried rose petals and damp garage. The palate is full-bodied and runs on high octane with a grainy texture. Flavors of dark cherry, licorice, kirsch, espresso, dark chocolate, black tea, and rendered bacon fat seasoned with black pepper form the core. Overall, this is a very good wine. The layering of flavors is …
