Jeremy has this right (as usual). The contrast between the sweet cherry, herb filled nose and the deep rich palate makes the dense yet lifted palate even more enjoyable. Hits that Burg sweet spot between a lot going on, yet lithe. Great with dinner at Heirloom Cafe tonight.

This was a beautiful bottle, power, grace and elegance. Nice detail of cherry fruit that have a crisp edge. Some smoked meats and ginger spice. A whiff of smoke and some autumnal leaves. Rich and velvety with good minerally cut and expansion. Perfectly proportioned. One of the wines of the night.

Tight at first, showing a little meaty reduction. Breathes up to show plenty of spice and delicious cherry fruit. It has a hint of underbrush development and is very minerally and detailed. The finish is fine and expansive.

Pale in colour with some discolouration around the rim. Soft red fruit, earth, smoke, spices on the nose - quite expressive with lots of depth. On the palate very well balanced - lovely fruit, noticeable tannins, great acidity, wonderful minerality. Vibrant, spicy finish, super persistent. A glorious bottle, drinking very well, but no rush. 94-96

A lovely, mid-weight Beze, drinking at the top of its game. The nose is highly perfumed, showing some floral spice, blue fruits and a hint of earth. It is silky in the mouth, with nice interplay between sweet fruit flavours and savoury notes. It builds through the palate and really fans out on the finish, leaving a minerally imprint.

From magnum. Deep ruby. Very young looking. Quite open from the outset. Nice ripe, healthy fruit. Still more black fruit than red. Surprisingly elegant from this producer who can make some fairly brash wines. Very enjoyable and moreish. Decent length and finely poised. Drink well now but perhaps still a little more upside from here.

Very spicy black cherry fruit, cut wood and some green grass, in a pleasant way. The palate was bright, more spice and had nice zip. Quite a bit of mineral on the mid palate and medium+ finish. Opened up nicely over about 2 hours.

Red Burgundy (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : first thought is of kraut. bacon fat and a bit of new sneaker. gravel. floral notes are rocking up front on the palate. and this does show the finish of the tasting. hint of brett. bacon bits. it is said, 'grand cru shows more complexity. not bigger and not more powerful.'
