not the best turley I've had but considering the age not unexpected

Popped and poured. Dusty, muted nose with a faint hint of red fruit. Initially very hot but gained some floral aromas with a little time in the glass. On the palate this is pretty dead, not a lot of fruit but a lot of sweaty socks. Feels way more tannic than fruity which is not good for a wine of this age. Maybe better with a decant, but overall not good.

Showed surprisingly well at 13 years--still plenty of plum and blackberry, smoke and earth.

Needs some time on opening.....maybe an hour or so. Smells like a cab in a zin bottle. Very dark fruit on the nose but a dark garnet color in the glass with a lighter garnet rim. Lots of acidity remaining. A hint of raisins to go with the plums and the pepper. Fruit is fading on the palate so even though there is plenty acid backbone for years to go, you'd better drink this one soon.

A bit past its peak so it was a little lacking on the fruit notes but smooth.

Napa Valley Tour; 4/11/2014-4/15/2014 (French Laundry,Meadowood,Colgin,Araujo,Harlan....) : Open, forward yet serious wine, good fruit, light on the oak and went very well with our lunch. Not the most memorable wine but will not disappoint . 89, drink now

Pleasant enough wine with good fruit but just a little too much acidity on the finish for my palate. My wife enjoyed more than I which was somewhat surprising.

Another excellent offering from Turley. Big, fruity nose, lots of black cherry or raspberry on the palate. Very pleasing wine.

PINK ON THE EDGE, CHERRIES AND SPICE IN THE NOSE WITH RASPBERRIES AND CHERRIES IN THE FLAVOR. NOT A TYPICAL TURLEY ZIN BUT QUITE NICE WITH THE PIZZA. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

Opened up nicely after an hour or so in the decanter. Was a bit light at first, but as it drank, it drank nicely.

Delicious wine; balanced and without flaws. But as so often happens with Zin as it ages, it has lost that unique Zin fruit character on the nose.

This was a replacement for a corked bottle. Turley actually sent me the 2006 to replace my corked '06 - kudos Turley. This bottle was quite reserved for Turley, maybe almost too much so. Still yet, I preferred it to the overripe, pruned Turleys in several vintages prior. Nose of cracked pepper, underbrush and crushed raspberries. Dark almost purple red, but still showing some transparency through the wine. Flavors are leanish, round, cracked pepper, berry and hints of garrigue. Pretty …

A distinctly Napa Zin. Rounder, fleshier. Age smoothed this one out. Served with flank steak, roasted brussels and a fresh sweet corn saute. Its pair was an '02 Geyerville. The Geiser won the pairing - was a bit more complex and structured but both were good with the flank steak. I like the Earthquake for its purple fruit and black earth/loam. This one had that, though may have been better 1-2 years younger. Drink 'em up, is my reco.

Decanted for 30 minutes, then had at it. Nice smooth mouthful, followed by a slightly spicy, pungent, medium finish. Pleasant.

Classic Turley zin with good fruit and tannin development. Probably getting towards the end of its prime drinkability.

Lovely nose of raspberry, wild berry, chalk, flint, and white pepper. On the palate, a nice core of raspberry underlaid with darker fruit. Lots of white pepper, with a smoky, spicy finish. Very nice, if not profound. The last of my '06 Turleys - sad to see them go.
