Opened 2020 vintage in 2023 and it felt a bit young but still very good. Very soft on the nose with a hint of spice, like pepper, as well as bright cherry, and - as odd as this may sound - a hint of honey or molasses; albeit the taste is not at all sweet but very nicely balanced between delicate tannins, dry fruit and a very slight compliment of barrel. 100% biodynamically farmed Gamay Saint-Romain (a local clone of Gamay Noir more susceptible to certain diseases and producing smaller bunches, translating to more concentrated fruit) from a 30-yo vineyard. 50% of the fruit is destemmed, 50% whole fruit. 17,5/20 Coup de Coeur Rubis moyen aux reflets violacés. Nez original : floral et fruité. Fin aux parfums exquis. La bouche à l’attache laisse croire à un taux de sucre élevé pourtant il n’en est rien il n’affiche qu’un maigre 1,7g/l. Complexe, riche, sans lourdeur. Le gamay s’exprime bien. C’est un vin avec sa propre personnalité : excellent.
