Steve came round to dinner at the Welsh Cottage brandishing a bottle. I saw it was white, and explained I had already opened a hearty red for the hearty provencal-style chicken dish I had cooked. Since Steve knows nothing about wine, and travels by bicycle, I assumed it was something from a supermarket in one of nearby small towns. What a great Napa Sauvignon. Good balance and texture pineapple, aromas and flavors of pineapple and lemon. Restrained, and not overly acidic. Similar on day 2.

Really appreciated this wine because it's not OTT Napa-style Sauvignon. It is very fresh, not overly heavy, and has a lot of non-fruit notes that provide further lift to the zip and zing of the expected Sauvignon flavors.

Purchased chilled last night from a small NY wine & liquor shop for $27.99. It was almost first aid considering the 99 degree temp at the time (about 110 THI). PnP. Nose dominated by lime. Light colored, medium to light bodied, minimal legs. Palate also has lots of lime with wet stones and a slightly sweet, honeyed tone just before the bracing acidity on the end. Finish is a bit short. The wine looks blonde colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lime, orange blossom and a bit of honeysuckle. It tastes like grapefruit and stoniness, then a touch of peach, and some almond in the finish. The body is light/medium. The wine finishes short. The wine has high acidity.

Pale color. Aromas.of lemongrass, honeydew, kiwi, acacia and oyster shell. Citrus notes emerge on the palate, offset with steely and firm minerality that drive in the secondary depth. Ample acid, that doesn't distract. Round silky texture. Some depth on the finish. Very nice. Definitely Loire in influence.
