Odoul Coquard, Chambolle-Musigny

Medium to deep garnet, near transparent. Forward red cherry, and strawberry fruit wit, herbal (thyme) notes,. Palate is focused, very fine ripe tannins, balanced and elegant. Not a power house, but very complete. Not sure this is getting any better but still has year left.

Dinner at Yang Ming (Yang Ming, Ubi) : A little young, but fairly enjoyable. The nose was primary but pretty, with classic Gevrey notes of red cherries and earth, maybe a shade of smoky herbs and spice, all tossed together with a nice lift of perfumy florals. Very nice. The palate was still fairly structured, with fine but still firm tannins and plenty of bright acidity giving a light grip to otherwise svelte, stylish flavours of red cherries and berries, …

Quick comment on opening for later. Good cork. Colour suggests half way to mature. Nose very pleasant, attractive oak, good ripeness and solidity. After readiing Burghound's note i was apprehensive. There is a trace of hardness that he mentioned but overall balance and flavour are pleasing. Finish not problematically dry as he reported then. Later, a bit four square, and rather immature. Overall mouthfeel is integrated. I will wait a few years before the next one.

Bad taste

From memory. By the glass at Bullion, Dallas. Prominent green herbs and stems mixed with minerals and tart cherries. Light, elegant with very good concentration of flavors. Young for sure. And I think best right now when paired with food. Went well with lamb and braised eggplant.
