Peach Farm. By chance there were a couple of rabid "Schmitt" fans around the table. This was very good, midrange after dinner sweetness level. 15 yrs old, but I think the years will be good to it.

Showing more harmoniously than my prior bottle. Nice complexity with a minty freshness that cuts through the sweetness. Not sure how much this improves from here.

Wow. Lushness and intensity. Enjoy now for the sweet fruit or wait for greater complexity.

Rich texture. Lots of extract. Just wish it had a touch more cut. In its secondary phase.

Largely consistent with previous tasting notes, albeit sweeter than I remember, much closer to a dessert wine this time around.

Really wonderful tingly acidity. Has a very creamy texture that's both unctuous and spritzy at the same time. Sweeter than I remember from last time - I think the sweetness in this cuvee varies from year to year.

Harvested as a block. Auslese weight. Sparkly, bright and with a lot of mineral heft. Fantastic!

Light gold. The nose shows a rich bouquet of green apple, candied apricot, ginger, and botrytis spice. Honey and apple coat the palate through to a rich, honeyed finish. There's considerable sweetness here, but it and the ripe opulence are balanced by tartness and acidity. Selbach's blend of grapes of varying ripeness pays off here. This is a fine Riesling indeed. Best 2018-2028.

#28-11, 8% abv. In comparison to the fatter and richer Rotlay, this is much more racy, and although this is still quite sweet, it is definitely not as sweet as the more heavily botrytised Rotlay. This is a wine inflected with loads of green apple and tart acids, with an excellent mineral cut. The somewhat shrill acidity of 2010 comes across more prominently on this bottle, but there's plenty of fruit and sweetness to balance (most of it) out. More …

Barbera-ish Battle; 11/20/2015-11/22/2015 : awesome wine. at times it felt like a baby eiswein. at times - like a bomb spatlese... call it anything in between. Autumnal fruit, ripe leaking apricots and yellow peaches. cotton candy over minerals that are still hiding deep under the powerful fruit. this is a monster that begs to be put away for a decade or two. but impossible to put down once the cork is popped.

A Wow wine. Sublime, pungent, aromatic, intense & raspingly creamy. Lime-flesh/lime-oil, mango, tart-apricot, perfect yellow-peach, lavender, apricot, tart-cherry/red-cherry & cherry-stone, ginger, pink-grapefruit, & nectarine-skin. Touch of perfect, musky-apricot botrytis. Dense, dancing, lifting. Excellent acidity, intensity, & length. Finish & aftertaste is pink-grapefruit/apricot, & sweet/smoky lime-flesh/lime-oil, plus lime-zest.

#28-11, 8% abv. Pale yellow in colour. Slight bit of gasoline on the nose, coupled with grapefruit, almond, and some stone fruit. The palate comes off with feinherb sweetness, and loads of acidity and just a hint of slatey character. Pineapple and green apple flavours. This is for want of more mineral cut though -- the texture is a bit too round for such a young riesling -- but I'd never call this flabby.

Sublime, intense, raspingly creamy lime-flesh, mango, tart-apricot, perfect yellow-peach, lavender, apricot, tart-cherry/red-cherry & cherry-stone, ginger, pink-grapefruit, & nectarine-skin. Touch of perfect, musky-apricot botrytis. Dense, dancing, lifting. You absolutely cannot help smiling. A WOW wine! Not the (Amazing!) Electricity of the Rotlay, but much more approachable, & even more enjoyable now (did I really say that?!?) . . . even for this Baby-Killer.

Pop and pour. Pale to medium gold in the glass. On the nose, mango and honeysuckle. On the palate, waves of tropical fruit, with a lovely combination of silky mouthfeel and bright acidity, and a moderately long finish. If you like this style of wine (and we find it perfect with spicy foods and as a refreshing summer wine), Selbach-Oster consistently delivers.

Electric wine. Sweaty/pungent, creamy lime-flesh, very intense Meyer-lemon, sultana, nectarine, white-peach, hint of anise, & a touch of musky/apricot botrytis. Absolutely electric acidity & good intensity. Silky, pointed, pungent & long. Lime-flesh/lime-zest finish & aftertaste. Impressive. (93+)
