Dark and iridescent purple color is almost impenetrable. Murky, slightly sour blackberry fruit with violets on the nose. Dusty blackberry and black currant fruit with damp herbs and smoky pepper notes. Dry black fruit, charcoal, smoke, oak, and salami on the finish. Seems a bit over the hill at this point.

Cork disintegrated but wine was fine. Loads of brambly fruit and rich leather. Inky black color. Softening edges on the tannins, but I think it has reached a point of diminishing returns.

After 90 minutes in the decanter: heady aromas of black cherry and black raspberry, with notes of wood smoke, hard candy and underbrush. Mouth-coating black raspberry and blackberry, sliding across the palate with flashes of flint, mineral/wet rock, and pepper. Still fairly tannic, with a bracing core of acidity. Might have guessed a younger mountain Cabernet. Really nice, and still a youngster.

- Brick color - Heady mix of dark fruits, tannin, and oak, with hints of vanilla. Needs some air time to let the flavors blend and to take the edge off. Drinkable now, but better in a few years. Note to self: hold onto a couple of bottles!

Deeply colored. Dark notes of black fruits, black tea. Still showing freshness of fruit, but less effusive. The Thomann Station 2006 a far better bottle. This seems a bit less expressive on the palate, the wood obscuring the essential fruit purity: back palate tug of tannin not fully integrated. Didn't open to the same brawny elegance of the Thomann Station.

Needed over one hour of decanting. The nose opened up and is profound, aromatic and complex. I feel the nose is the best part of this wine, very inviting. One the palate, some complexity developed. Smooth texture. Great balance. The EBA can be felt most on the palate, with oak and vanilla notes other than the fruity and somewhat mineral elements. smooth balanced wine. no harsh tannins, the extra oak time has done this wine well. it's in a good place. you could drink it now or over next 20 years parker thinks this wine could go 50 years. i wont have the patience to wait that long before drinking my next one.

Nose is hard to penetrate: black fruit, oak, and dark chocolate are there, but hard to get to. Deep, rich, and powerful palate of black fruit wrapped in oak, minerals, chocolate, and hints of herbs. Rich, lengthy tannins, brambly blackberry, and an oak backbone on the finish, Could easily hold and possibly improve.

Drank over two days; day two, wine became smoother and less tanic. Nose has lots of spice and dust. Taste is full of dark fruit followed by notes of vanilla. Medium finish; overall, nicely balanced wine. Probably needs another couple of years in the cellar.
