4+ hour double decant, still young, but not over the top tannic. Will obviously improve with more time, but a lot to like here.

Brunello's and Barolo's (Cary's Castle) : Faint cherry, red fruits and a touch of minerals. Love the finish on this wine. Finished 4 of 6

Savoury and minerally, this had a wonderful acidic backbone that conferred freshness and dimension. The plummy flavours were supported by firm tannins, but there was an intensity and structure that lifted this well beyond the ordinary. Really well-balanced it had a marvellous upturned finish that gave off a hint of sweetness. Multi-dimensional & extraordinary. CHP 96 pts

Drop dead gorgeous entry with notes of wild strawberries, roses and other floral nuances. It is rich and intense, but at the same time seductive and enveloping, with beautiful poise and harmony, with an opulent velveteen texture. It is deceptively powerful with refined tannins, whilst remaining dexterous and fleet-footed, with a lingering and luxurious finish. It really is right out of the top drawer and my score here is conservative. While this is young and will drink over many years …

This leads with dark cherries and black fruits, tar and light floral notes that recede after some time. Big, ripe Barolo, with definite heat and the sensation of alcohol. Skirting with over-ripeness for my taste. The mouthfeel is fine, with powerful refined fruit and crushing dry tannins, but the wine loses tension after a few hours. Decanted for an hour and a half. With pork chops, fennel and mustard glaze.

This is quite good: beautiful, archetypal nose of black cherries, roses, and tar while on the palate, you have very understated dark fruit balanced by good acidity, minerality, with some grippiness from the tannins. Perhaps some may feel its a little dilute, but I appreciate the early approachability and its relative gentleness.

Right off the cork pull amazing stuff. Of course, very tannic, put so lovely at the same time.

Bruno Giacosa Current Release Tasting (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL) : Walkaround tasting. Bigger than the 2019 Asili and more balanced right now, but just less hints of complexity to emerge. Dense and also well balanced already now. Better from 2024.
