Opened along side a 2014 Williams Selyem Papera Zinfandel. Ok maybe not a fair comparison but the Sbragia blew away the WS in terms of structure, smoothness, richness, depth and finish. Great nose, big palate, all the parts were well integrated and balanced. My only bottle purchased years ago, this was a NICE bottle of aged Zin.

Is there value in Sonoma Zinfandel (Chris H's home) : Not sure if this was a proper bottle or just has not aged well. It was disappointing though. Purple/brown in color. The nose has root beer, cherries and spice but also some raisins. Slightly drying tannins on the palate. Drinks more like a port than a table wine. The alcohol and the oak is obvious. Its drinkable but I wonder if this was heat damaged along the way. Bought from …

Less impressed with this bottle. Maybe my expectations are too high. Still a high quality Zin with a beautiful finish.

A beautifully balanced wine. Might be losing some its fruit vs. the last bottle I had 2+ years ago. Think I will focus on drinking the rest of my inventory soon.

Plum jam on nose, Stewed fruit, pencil lead, tobacco, mid palate off balance with tannin still showing, finish improves with caramel and chocolate

PnP, Deep purple to the edge. Light blackberry, blueberry nose. Suprisingly weak fruit on the attack and mid-palate. Very one dimensional. A tiny bit jammy. Nothing standout about this wine, Remember Gino's more favorabley in older vintages. Well stocked on 2009 and 2010... so hope they are more impresive.

I tasted the flight of cabernet wines a Sbragia last may. Most were very good but very spendy. Afterwards I tasted the Zinfandels. This one jumped out. I really enjoy the old world characteristics. You could tell me its a top flight Pugliese Primitivo and I would believe you. It possesses a really nice earthy smokiness, on the nose and palate. It has no harsh edges on the palate and is not raisiny or pruny. It may evolve for another …

if you like a stewed fruit or a jammy Zinfandel then you will enjoy this wine. The finish lingered with pleasant notes. It didn't progress though the night and kind of tapered off after a few hours, so I expect that means it is at the end of the height of its drinkability curve.

Lovers of big, bold zins stay away from this wine. This lovely, lucious wine was a real treat with medium jammy fruit up front and a wonderful finish. Good for just sipping. First bottle was great, second was even better. I think gutt22 got a bad bottle given the negative experience described in his/her tasting note.

Light-to-medium in color. Aroma of cherries, berries and spice. Medium bodied with some jamminess but not overwhelmingly so.

14.6% alcohol. The way this wine drinks, you would think there is no way it could only be 14.6% alcohol. Hot, prune-like, and just plain gross on the nose and palate. Overripe and a complete mess. Heat dominates the finish. Avoid. D

Pop 'n pour. More of an acid-driven Zin (which is unusual these days) but with plenty of bramble and sweet oak flavors. I liked it, but others at the table did not seem to enjoy it very much.

We bought this at the NH State Liquor store and popped it for dinner up in Maine. It had a very nice nose of red raspberries but it was the first Zin we ever had that was an "oak bomb". I was surprised as the toasted oak dominated the palate even though this was a 5-year old wine.

I either had a bad bottle or this is just a horrible Zin. There was little fruit and no taste. After being open for 3 hours, it was marginally better, but not much. I had high hopes for this wine and was very disappointed. I store my bottles properly in a Eurocave, and it did not taste corked, it just didn't have much taste to it. I drank less than one glass and then drank a bottle of '07 Scout's …

88+. This bottle seemed significantly better than our first, with good minerality and complexity. Still a little funky and austere compared to the Zins I've been digging lately, but very drinkable at a moderate price.

I had high hopes, but this wine, or at least this bottle, just didn't do it for me. Seemed both too sweet/syrupy on the initial attack, and then slightly bitter on the finish. Never came together, even after decanting/aerating.

8/23/10 - drank with dinner. Had grilled BBQ chicken. The wine had a great deal of alcohol on the nose and early palette. Didn't show up until about 10 minutes off the cork. Decanted and did a lot of swirling. This helped. With the next bottle, definitely decant for about an hour before consumption. Once decanted, the fruit opened up a bit and the alcohol smoothed out. The finish is velvety and long. This was a signed bottle I had …

Great Zin. Big nose. Blackberry Jam/Chocolate. Made me say "wow" when i took a big swirl and a big whiff. It went perfect with the BBQ Venison Hamburgers on the Grill. Plan to buy more.

Beautifully balanced zin. Dark purple in color with nose of dusty earth and berries. On the palate there is sweet red and black cherries with notes of raspberries. This wine finishes with some vanilla and chocolate notes that linger on the palate for for 45 seconds. Lighter style of zin. 14.5% alc.

This is a young dense zinfandel from Ed Sbragia's Family winery. The color is a deep ruby with a translucent edge. The nose is expressive, blackberry jam, graphite, oak and cherry fruit. The wine has sweet forward fruit with tart acidic middle and lingering tannin finish, it is very full bodied and luscious. 90, really good, drink it now.

Great zin that is not pedal to the metal, instead it is balanced to enjoy the scenery. I was going to wait on my other bottle, but I am going to keep it ready to drink. Had it with ribs, but next time I might have it before ribs....why complicate things.

This was really very, and unexpectedly, good. Wonderful nose of chocolate and licorice, which followed through on the palate. Rich, sweet and fun, but not oaky or overripe. A big, fun wine at the price. I've been quite impressed each time I've tried one of Ed Sbragia's dabblings in Zin.
