Domaine les Côtes de la Roche Saint-Amour

Earthy and rich but still retaining freshness with notes of cherry and raspberry fruit developing into liquorice and chocolate. If I had a main criticism, I found it a tad clunky and lacking elegance. 86+pts

Ripe but not hot or heavy. Rich, vinous, kirsch-like nose, which was so aromatic it could fairly be described as heady. Bitter, thick cherry jam on the palate, with plenty of acidity and some smooth, mouthwatering tannins towards the finish. I wouldn't want to go any riper than this, but it's a good wine, especially for the price (£11.50 on the table).

Good example. Very youthful on first pour, vivid purple and a bit confected but it settles down in the glass. Ripe fruits with hints of floral notes, both seem a mark of the vintage. Touch of tannin but very rounded. Nice but not spectacular.

2018 Beaujolais from The Wine Society : Medium to full body. 13%. Some red fruits on the nose, a little blurrred, has some darker tones with swirling. The palate is quite dry, just a little tannin on the front of the tongue, there’s decent fruit though but it’s not showy, some strawberries, red currant and a touch of plum. Good length, the tannins come back at the finish
