Grandmaster Zinfandel

Overwhelming spice aroma upfront. Notes of tar and leather in this full body zin. Spice disappears and fruit notes linger on a fairly long finish. Definitely changes character over two hours of drinking. Maybe the fruit intensified because we drank the wine with dark chocolate and red raspberries.

Frankly, my suspicions were not misplaced with this "bargain" from Whole Foods. Fairly workmanlike without much depth or character, none of the spice, game, intense fruit or other qualities one might hope for in a zinfandel. No more Grandmasters for me of any stripe.
