(Mostly) Chenin Night : Wow, after seeing these notes, I guess I scored a great bottle. Stored perfectly since release, and this was so vibrant, much more so than the 2008. Brisk, bright, lime, apples, quince, with a complex, chalky, mineral, crushed shell element. Crystal clear and vibrant and not at all tired or oxidized or anything. Loved this bottle, and it got much more expressive as the night went on.

120 g/l residual sugar. Served blind. Luminous, medium-deep copper color suggesting some age. Sweet and quite nutty nose with complex and thoroughly attractive aromas of rowanberries, some savory smoky notes, a little bit of candied orange zest, a hint of sandy soil and a touch of wildhoney. The wine is vibrant, moderately full-bodied and sweet on the palate with very rich and concentrated flavors of orange marmalade, lemon curd, some roasted exotic spices, a little bit of apple jam, a …

tiltalende og druetypisk chenin med kvann, nesle, honning, appelsin, noe "gresk" aromatisk fruktighet, sitrus og mineraler. God balanse, syrlig og trenger mat.

Clear with a light orange tint, slightly oxidized nose, very light sherried flavors on the palate with sharp lemon and unripe peach. Very austere and acidic, actually not too bad with food, but not sure what to make of the light oxidation which seems to be an issue looking at other reviews.

Blind Tasting - 2010 Loire Chenin Blanc (Weygandt Wines - Washington, DC) : Tasted Blind. Aromas of grilled peach, chalk, and dried green herbs. Focused, directed tart lemon palate with tart pineapple and gravel minerals emerging on the finish. Light to medium bodied with searing acidity, this is a wine that demands food. Hold. R&M86

Brilliant golden colour. Interesting nose of apple juice and honeyed spices, more confit than botrytised. Delicious middle-weight taste with fine balance of acidity and sweetness; does not seem to be so sweet as it is said to be (120 g sugar/liter). Does not seem to change much with air but will surely keep for a few decades.

On first opening, the taste was of intense orange citrus and chalk reminiscent of an orange flavored multivitamin pill. Over time, it developed into a fleshier fruit taste (perhaps pineapple) though the distinct chalky taste remained. Went well with food but not a wine I'd pick up again. With all the acidity, there's at least a year if not two left in this wine.

Smells smoky and toasty; the sour taste comes as a surprise; very refreshing.

Young Loire Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Medium yellow. Honeyed pear on the nose. Good weight but not as much fruit in the mouth. In fact, so dominated by soil that it reminded me most of Savennieres rather than Chenin from this spot.

Light white-yellow. Scents of oilcloth, apricot, minerals, wet stones, hints of dry sherry? Dry, chalky, wet stones, orange, razorblade sharp acidity, a little edgy.

Pale straw yellow color. Love the wet stone minerality that really is the core of this wine; there is some lovely yellow stone fruit and ginger spice as well. The acid is front and center and finishes dry as is typical for this cuvee. I find this to be more precise than the '09. A nice, crisp, white wine for the summer months. Allow to open for an hour or so and it really delivers for its price point.
