Med red color with a fair amount of color from rim to center. On nose, strawberry, cherry, earth, and herbs. On palate, medium body, medium acidity/tannins and long finish. Flavor profile of red currants, strawberry, and stone. Reminds me of a nice cru Beaujolais. Best of 3 bottles to date. while I would not buy again, a nice mid-week wine. 90+/-

Didn't take notes. While I would rate similarly to my '18 note (90), I feel like it was a more complete wine. Not a re-buy, but good mid-week wine. 90

Light body, not much there. Light on fruit, a little earth and licorice. No mid palette. Drinkable but not satisfying.

A nice bottle of wine for the price. Fresh and drinkable but also has good complexity. Would satisfy a lot of palates I think.

A blend of old-vine Mencía (85%) with local varieties (Alicante Bouschet, Brancellao, Caiño, Merenzao, Mouratón and Sousón) rounding out the remainder. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in open-top fermentors, macerated with the skins for 40 days. Half of the wine is aged for 7 months in old oak foudres and then for another 4 months in used 225-liter barriques and 500-liter demi-muids, the other half is aged for 7 months in old barriques and demi-muids and then for another 4 …

Needed an hour to open up. Bouquet of sour cherries and quite crisp, reminding of a Morgon from Beaujolais with some meaty iron notes. Medium bodied with good persistence. At 16€ it’s a good value.

Nose: The nose is well balanced and savory with sour red cherries, violets, herbs, raspberries, tobacco, leather, and potpourri. Taste: Medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and youthful medium+ tannins. The feel is balanced with a savory take to the tones of violets, sour red cherries, raspberries, leather, and potpourri. Overall: This shows off a more savory and herbal take to Mencia as opposed to Bierzo. This is extremely enjoyable and I would love to see where this goes with …

** (very close to 3 stars) Light body, on the acid side but still elegantly balanced. Tannins not noticeable. Herbal and savory notes blend with the fruit to form a subtly interesting flavor. A bit softer and more subdued but no less interesting than the Ribeiro recently drunk. A combination of lightness and power, is this the Burgundy of Spain?

Not as fruity as some other Mencias and with a distinctive smokey taste. There is also some violet and some pine/dried thyme on the finish. A fine wine, but it seemed a little flat (should it have been consumed earlier?). I did like it a bit better on day 2, at a slightly cooler temperature and from the Oregon Pinot Noir glass. I had high hopes for this and it was a good wine, but the Decima was definitely the …

By the glass at restaurant. Opaque dark red purple. Low key rich mesmerizing smoky black fruit black pepper. Low acidity soft lush black fruit not very complex oak but not a lot of heat on finish with med/med- tannins. Not very structured, nice nose.

Definitely a wine to my taste: strong acidity, with cherry, clay, incense, and damask rose as well as non-negligible tannins that balance it out.

Moestue’s book launch of «The New Vignerons» (Grand Cafe, Oslo) : Blend of 85% Mencia, 4% Caino Tinto (Borracal), 3% Merenzao (Trousseau), 3% Brancellao (Alvarelhao), 3% Souson, 2% Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet). Nose: Fantastic nose; berries, fruits, perfumed and flowery. Taste: Great structure, fruit and concentration. Some new oak.

Drank over 2 nights. Needed air. Medium red color with no sediment. Cherry, tart cherry, earth/mineral on nose. Tart cherry (fruit primary) on palate. Medium body/acids/tannins with a medium+ finish. 90+/- Not a re-buy. Very "Cru Beaujolais" like on night 1 (not a bad thing). I enjoyed this but QPR is not great. It should improve with age and the note above was on night 2.

The Soils of Spain - Spanish Terroir (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Slight reductive, earthy, mineral, cherry and a bit of barnyard. Silky tannins against muted cherry, slight farmyard. Hmm.

Russk. Drank at Nui Kitchen in Downtown Miami. Could be mistaken for a Samur from Loire. Ok nose, maybe too young. Nice juicy savory mouth. Medium bodied. Food wine. Try again.

A private lunch (Restaurant Brat, Shoreditch, London, UK) : Fresh and floral and juicy, hint of yogurt, low tannins, develops a certain chocolatey depth with some oxygen. A simple delight.
