Such a pretty, ethereal wine. Silky texture with lifted, high-toned nose of berries and floral notes. This will definitely age well, but it’s so charming already.

Red fruit with a menthol lift, this is beautiful on the palate with some savory notes starting to emerge on the nose. Going to give my remaining bottles some time to see how this develops. Lovely stuff.

First time with this producer. Considered me impressed. Red fruits with good tannin structure that suggests this will have life for several years maybe decades. All that to say, it’s sublime now; making it difficult to put the glass down. 93+

Tasted blind. Sweet notes of red berries, strawberry jam, some kirsch, also some sour cherries, graphite, a touch of animalic notes, too. With some more air, there is also a minty quality developing. Medium+ bodied, with medium+ acidity and lowish tannin. Very good length. A very elegant and finessed Beaujolais Cru from this excellent producer. (93+)

The souls of the dead are ferried across the river by Charon, the ferryman. Fabien Duperray, the man behind Domaine Jules Desjourneys, loves to give his wines mythical names or provide them with quotations that require explanation. We can assure you that you won't feel like you're traveling to the realm of …

Nez de groseilles rouges, un peu poussiéreux... red berries, tannin présent, a bit harsh...

wallop of brett on the nose gave me serious misgivings. We let it air out while we finished the white burg and wow did it flesh out nicely. Super elegant, detailed, precise with exotic berry fruit and hints of spice. What was stunning was its youthful character - the rim was transparent and the wine was still somewhat reticent. The Brett was there, but served to add complexity rather than overwhelming the palate. This is just entering its drinking window …
