At The Modern, a special treat to enjoy, at a rational cost, the pleasure of an old Mosel auslese. Ethereal confluence of aromatic tropical flowers, tropical fruit, slate and a hint of citrus. That wonderful light viscosity and a pale to medium yellow color that adds to the elegance. The only shortcoming is that there was a slight thin feel to the middle palate as opposed to some of the older auslesen from Christoffel or Prum.

This classic Mosel auslese has all of those wonderfully elegant fused tropical flower and Asian/tropical fruit flavors endnotes with a very dry backbone. Unlike those ebullient Christoffle 1990s Urzigers and Erdeners that show honey and cumquat,this sways more to the flint, tight citrus, exotic orange and floral tones.

Medium dry, stewed apples and pears, curry spice, petrol and plastic. Great acidity that you can feel immediately. This is drinking really right now.
