shared with pat at selkirk manor. celebrating surviving another week during the pandemic. selected this bottle due to negative reviews by some other members and community drink by date being one year longer than galloni. i also needed a wine from Abruzzi to pair with pat's homemade eggplant parm. the wine showed well and demonstrated typicity which i find to be unique to montepulciano from Chieti. perhaps not as robust as the wines of some other producers in the area. …

Highly acidic and taste of unripe berries. Toned down a bit after some time in the glass. Must drink now. Was much better on night 3. Actually was quite enjoyable.

A very nice table wine - especially for the price. Simple, but fruity, and goes great with food and the best part - only 13% alcohol.

Had a second bottle, and this was not really drinkable. Hard to know if it was flawed, or perhaps significant bottle variance. Either way, wouldn't rebuy.

Really tasty juice. Raspberries, cherries, and blackberries on a firm, fleshy, earthy, mid-bodied palate. Harmonious, balanced, delicious, and made for food. Just goes to show you don’t have to spend a fortune for good wine.

Dudes in wineries tend to die notes Susie. Guy realized that CHampagne produced super high quality so he cam back with the idea of producing quality not quantity. Barnyard, but in a good way, with some stiff tannins, but also in a good way.

I have a favorite northern Italian restaurant in the fan district of Richmond and every time I go I order this bistro Abruzzo and am never disappointed. The 2015 is their newest vintage and this may be my favorite yet, two bottles ordered amongst four people as we were celebrating my daughter excepting an offer to do her post Doc at Harvard. The 2015 was unusually spicey compared to privious vintages, this added the extra complexity need to make this …

Wasn't sure what to expect but was blown away by the complexity of such an inexpensive wine. Nuanced nose with red and black fruit, hint of earth. On the palate, good acidity (Paired very well with robust pasta though not with a burger) and the same blend of darker fruit with hints of tobacco, etc. Very nice.

Russk. Nice QPR at under $10. Not super complex but a great Cherry acidity that makes you want to come back for another sip, and another sip after that and so on. Especially at 13% alc. Think Chianti Classico, but without some of the earth and structure, that balance out the fruit. Based on experience, I definitely like this producer.

#2 vote getter at Friday night's Chianti Plus tasting. Straight forward dark fruits, good heft and balance, an easy sell to new world palates. Not bad for a $12 wine you can buy at virtually every store in town.

Fantastic for the price ($9). Good for everyday or for taking to a dinner party where you are not sure if it will be appreciated. They should appreciate this one, but for the price, it won't matter if they don't. At least you will enjoy it. Keep buying this.

Third tasting w/ a slight drop in points. This 3rd bottle was a bit jammy, but opened up at the end. We've since found this for $10 at Wegmans, and it makes for a great weekday drinker. Again this wine proves you don't have to spend much to find something good. I realize the other ratings listed here are not as high, but perhaps the expectations are a bit too high for a mass-produced wine of this price. Sometimes you …

This has been available in my market for a long time but I haven't paid attention to it until I tried it, and liked it, at a store tasting. It's inexpensive but it tastes like real wine. Grapes, barrel, bottle - that's it, although probably not much barrel. It's dark, interesting enough, clean, even with some richness, and bright on the finish. I wasn't going to write a note but realized it is worth saying something since I enjoy it …

Here is another nice, affordable find. It had a wonderful nose of red and black fruit, and a nice touch of spice. The body was medium to medium plus, and the tannis came trough a bit more to the forefront toward the end. The fruit was quite vibrant, leaning more toward a new-world style. In fact, tasted blind one guess was a California Zinfandel given the fruit and spice. I think this will be even better in another year or …

Moderately fruity, dry and has some earthy notes to it. Sour cherry, chalk dust and just a hint of forest floor. Correctly reflects the varietal which at this price is a plus. Medium acidity, body and medium minus tannin. Will it win any awards? nope. Will it get you through the recession at a very good QPR? Yup.

More complexity than the 2010. Alongside the red fruits, notes of licorice and a touch of herbs. Vibrant acidity, it just begs you to refill your glass. Not the most powerful, but that’s not the point. This will go with almost everything. Serve at 16 C. Drink now-2016. Food-pairing idea: manicotti stuffed with herbs and cheese and tomato sauce

Flight 6, Central and Southern Italy, Wine 4 (blind): The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and offered sweet aromas, cherry, berries, damson in alcohol and firestone on the nose. On the palate the medium- to full-bodied wine showed dark cherry and berry flavours, joined by some vegetal notes on the finish, paired with medium-level acidity, medium-plus medium quality tannin and average length. The mediocre wine may be consumed now, and seemed to have moderate upside potential over …
