This wine is on the downhill slide to my palate. It’s starting to show some mild tertiary notes and, more concerning, the alcohol is starting to feel out of balance - something I didn’t notice with my bottles a few years back. The stated alcohol is 15.0% and, blind, I would’ve guessed closer to 16% tonight. I’m giving it an 87 based on the fact that my wife liked it more than I did. Was a few points lower for …

Dark raspberry fruit, lively acidity provides surprising freshness, soft tannins all in balance with medium finish. This is damn good juice!

Red fruit notes, potpourri, underbrush and sandal wood. Good acidity to balance out the fruit. I love the weight of this wine. My favorite single vineyard from Biale. Good juice.

My favorite Biale single vineyard Zinfandel. However, I am just going to chalk this one up as bottle variance. Everything was disjointed.

Everything I want in a zinfandel. A balance between fruit, spice and alcohol.

Dark fruit, underbrush, potpourri and wild herbs jump out of the glass with delight. The nose excites the senses. Great depth and texture. At age seven, this wine is evolving nicely with a hand full of years still remaining for your pleasure. Good juice.

This wine is evolving nicely. Red and blue fruit is complimented by warm spice notes, garrigue and wild flowers. Good juice.

This bottle was a bit different than my previous experiences with this cuveé. For the first two hours, its fruit was overshadowed by a bitterness that I don’t tyoically encounter in Zinfandel. There was some good acidity present, which I enjoy in my zins, but things seemed out of balance until this had significant air. I think this is in a bit of an awkward phase at the moment and will likely benefit from more time in the cellar. I …

After a two hour decant, I believe the wine was still too young. There is wonderful red and blue fruit hiding under the acidity that is front and center. That shouldn’t be an issue to resolve after another two years of bottle aging. All the components are there for another outstanding R.W. Moore from the Biale team.

Outstanding Zinfandel with nice spice, minerality, complexity, bright fruit flavor, and long, clean finish.

Ruby purple Bright creamy blackberry fruit. Much more open with an hour of air. A bit chunky, but this is really easy to enjoy in a big easy creamy fruit style (if that’s your style). A bit heavy at first, but lighter with air

Not your typical in your face zin. This wine was reserved but interesting. I would start drinking if in your cellar.

Nose of smoke and oak. Blueberrry and cherry fruits with dried rosemary and peppery notes. Strong oak finish with firm tannins, spice, and black cherry.

Former moore earthquake vineyard (turley) . Black fruit, sweet black licorice, lavender, baking spice, power packed flavorful zin, juicy, but balanced. Post brew Espresso beans. small percent of petite sirah in vineyard co-fermented. Really long.

Opened and poured. wow, what a monster jam bomb this was. This is what Bacchus would pour Adam and Eve before a romp in the Garden of Eden. Sweet, jammy, thick without being too overdone. Reminiscent of a bottle of elderberry syrup. Blacks and brambles and mouth coating lip smacking hedonistic jam. Reminds me of some of the late 90s/early 00s Rosenblum fruit bombs. If you are in the mood for this, it doesn't get much better.

After a 30 minute decant it was lush and spicy. Went great with homemade flatbread pizza with figs, goat cheese/gorganzola, prosciutto and arugula. Great pairing.

Neighbors really liked it also. Slightly sweet, but a consistent winner from Biale and this vineyard. Other than the slightly sweetness, well balanced with virtually no discernable tannins.

Consumed after our party finished a 2013 Biale "Black Chicken". I'm not much of a tasting note writer, but I do enjoy good Red Zinfandel. This bottle is one of the top 10 I've ever tasted. Sublime. Noticeably more refined, smooth, and intense compared to the Black Chicken that it followed. I wish I had another bottle.

Nice, but nothing of note. I'd drink it now - just don't think it is going to get any better with additional time.

Sweet, thin, jammy, and consisted of over ripe plums and raisins. Not a great showing for this wine. I generally think Biale makes quality Zin's. Maybe an off bottle? Followed up by Bedrock Lorenzo's Heirloom which was a much better wine.

Just ok for me. My palate has changed where sometimes the Biale wines are a bit too sweet for me. Still a well made wine though.

A nose of black cherry and spice, dark black in color. A full bodied single vineyard Zin, with blueberry, black cherry, brown sugar and vanilla toast, found it a bit hot. I just visited Biale in November, they make great Zins and Syrah’s.
