Monster Syrah but after 48 hours after opening, tasting really well, mellowed, opened up and still fresh as a daisy. Opaque, deep dark berry fruits, heavy but balanced. Monopole BB b-day blind

I enjoyed this more than the 2020 Third Twin MSG blend which was massive. This was too, but slightly dialed down with 4 more years on it, and mostly Syrah. Plus, only 15.8% alc. (as opposed to 15.9 for the Twin?). NOt my style but interesting. Totoraku Rhone dinner Yarom group.

Ripe dark berries and very ripe dark cherries. Same on the palate, very juicy and lovely ripe fruits. A mouth full of very well balanced wine.

Drank over three days and continued to evolve, although consistently good almost great throughout. Intense explosion of fruits—blueberries, boysenberries, dark rasberries, spices and black pepper. Some saltiness but not so much savoriness. Long long finish. A bit of heat which is a nod to the vintage I guess. Trying to find the SQN sweet spot. This was good but didn’t blow me away like the 2019 Distentia a month ago. But that’s me being picky, this is a tasty albeit …

Gave it a 4 hour decant. Could have used 8 hour decant. Even still, this was gorgeous. Rich, lush, smooth. Everything you’d want and expect. Just at the beginning of its life—many years left.

Stunning extraction…after three hours in the decanter this thick, resplendent, balanced, nuanced stunner showed extremely well. Dried blueberries, teak, tobacco leaf, sultana, lava and black pepper. Full in body, and the flowingly long fish is pure reflection. Depth and endless layers, there’s grip and focus. 2016 was, without question, very loving to Manfred and Elaine - as we all recklessly observe. Killer juice. Epic. Drink 2026 -.

This is a lovely wine. Alas, it was consumed too early. Sit on it for another 5 years. Incredibly well made and structured, but the tannins need some additional time to "settle back. Easy, Jim." Paired well with roasted chicken thighs in my own secret sauce, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots with tahini, and a green salad with blue cheese, bacon, walnuts and fresh garden tomatoes. Fun night and fun to share a great wine with friends. Two of our guests …

Good, maybe great, but not the amazing experience others have posted. Decanted for an hour and drunk over 4. Nose muted. Dark black fruit core, dense with menthol and what appears to be well integrated new fench oak. Although it was very well balanced and wound up, it didn't rank super high on the excitement meter. I'd say 5 more years before I try to open this bottling again.

We drank the 2016 Grenache the night before. The Syrah is as dark as night. Quite an expressive nose with just an amazingly lush wine yet one of great power. Just the overall depth of the wine pushes up the score, even though I really preferred the finesse of the grenache more.

After further review…and consumption of said wine. I have adjusted my rating to 98! As others have noted the lasts sips can be a life changer…. well, at least a Score changer! Wow! 98+ First comment: Graceful wine with superior fruit flavors. Tannins still need time. However the finish seems to lasts for minutes! I would visit it again in 3-5.

Early birthday celebration with family, the first time visiting since before the pandemic. Drank it after the Grenache. I was going to rate this a 99 until the last three sips. Perfection. I opened the bottle for a couple of hours, and then I decanted it for a couple of hours. Again, the last three sips were the best; extraordinarily complex.

More of a religious experience than a wine . . . one of the most concentrated and complex wines I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. There are no word that can adequately describe a Syrah of this power. I'm much better at dissecting Cabs, but this may change that . . .

BYO US Wines (@Terkel) : Dark cherry fruit mixed with a touch of oak/vanilla. There is some floral nuances to it but it is very young. So much depth and the balance is just amazing. Needs more time to put on some weight but it certainly has a huge potential. Loved it!

This may be the best wine that I have ever tasted. Intense with concentrated fruit and various spices, but perefectly balanced. Zero heat. Not overpowering.

Super dark black and blue fruits, blackberry, black raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, vanilla, anise, licorice, asphalt, clove, chard meats, pepper, great intensity (crazy intensity), balance and velvety texture. The finish goes on and on and drinks very well as a PnP this early. One of my wines of the year.
