La Spinetta (Rivetti) Barbera d'Alba Gallina

Very solid wine. Paired well with NY strip.

Beautiful nose. It smells ripe with notes of blackberry, black plum, and allspice, chocolate. There is still a light underlying note of cooked tomato. Liquorice note for some reason. There are also notes of oak - clove and cedar - and forest floor. On the palate, it’s full bodied with high alcohol. The acidity is medium, but the wine is surprisingly not flabby or unbalanced.
