16 years later, this wine has evolved beautifully. Full of lush tannins, rich, ripe fruit and berry notes. The color is a deep rich plum with no browning. Still shiny. Beautiful zin

One of my favorite Turleys. Should have opened this wine a few years back. Still drinking well. Fruity with soft tannins - a taste of berries and plum. Good nose and stays well on the tongue for a while. Good sipping wine, paired well with truffle cheese and crackers.

Beautiful with Thanksgiving dinner. Almost syrupy (in a good way), decadent and spicy. Would have been WOTN among three 2006 Turley zins but for a touch too much alcohol heat. Lost a point for that.

Absolutely perfect! Bought a magnum of this a year ago at the Turley spring pick-up party, and finally popped it open last night with some friends. They brought a 2012 magnum of Saxum- Paderewski, and none of us could pick a favorite.....That should give you a pretty good idea of just how great this wine is!

Damn was this tasty and in its sweet spot. I immediately re-bought the last bottle from KL. Classic Turley and Dusi fruit here... a bigger Zin, but that is what I was looking for. Vs. the '06 Martinelli Jackass Vineyard - this was corked.

lovely aged zin. this is where i like Turley. very Rhone -like nose of red fruit, smoke, meat and herbs. mid is lush with sweet red cherry and touch of plum. leather with time and more earthy. long finish with a rustic touch. delicious. not a hint of heat on the palate (for a 16.5 wine!!)

I have little experience with Zinfandel; but based on this bottle, the taste profile is not to my liking.

Turley Pick-Up Party (At the Winery - Templeton, CA) : Best of tasting. Bursting with black and purple fruits from first whiff to last swallow, ending with that distinctive Turley apricot. A thrill from beginning to end, with an elegance that defies the varietal's usual characteristics. Finishes with beguiling notes of sandalwood and baking spices, with a finish that seems to go on forever. The complete package. Delicious -- and this from a nine-year-old zin.

I can count on one hand (or even a thumb) how many Turley Zins I have bought. The reason is simple—I just do not like the style: Big, bold, bone-crushing fruit and high alcohol. Nonetheless, as I have mentioned here before, one of the great pleasures in wine for me is an aged Zinfandel: the fruit fades a bit and leaves a nice (and hopefully complex) wine behind. Well, I might not have waited long enough here as there is …

This bottle held up much better than the one next to it in our cellar, which we had about a month ago. The nose is a little funky and I can't help but pick up corn, but the palate is very nice, Very mellow for a Turley and well integrated. Drinking like a high end wine, but I agree with another reviewer, I wouldn't wait on any in your collection.

Forgot about this beauty in my cellar as it had a 2011 vintner recommended drinking limit. Surprise! The wine is drinking stellar! A very elegant zin with loads of sweet tobacco and river rock. Refreshingly not fruit forward, incredibly well balanced and worthy of it's price tag. If you're fortunate to come across this wine on a menu or holding in your cellar, I would highly recommend drinking now. WOW!

This is perhaps the biggest Turley I've ever had. As someone who is on the list and have drunk a lot of Turley, that's saying something. On the nose and on the palate there is obvious minerality and licorice characteristics that I identify with the limestone soils of Paso Robles, esp Turley Pesenti and some Saxum. On the palate, it's an avalanche of ripe fruit, but even that can't conceal the 16.4% alcohol. The alcohol is obvious, but not distracting. …

I do not score these as at some point turleys become too pruney for me but mrs jfk likes them. The wines tastes almost port like to me without the alcohol kick. Anyway if you like the darker fruits like overripe plums this is for you

Spicy, raspberry nose, very strong, with just short of overripe flavors of peppery black currants, ripe cherries, licorice. Tannic and acid backbone to keep it interesting. Shows surprising restraint for Turley Dusi's, which can be overripe.

Any Dusi Zin is very good. Any Turley is very good. No surprise - Turley Dusi zin is excellent example of a big, fruit forward Zin.

Great Turley with that up front Turley spice. Nice cherry and red fruit notes. Not as hot or jammy as I expected. Lip smacking good.

Decanted for two hours. Cherry and red bramble nose. Up front complexity with cherry cola primary. Matured well in cellar. Long finish with peppery notes and silk/syrupy mouth feel. Wish I had a case.

*maybe too old* Nose of sweet cherry, raspberry, and herbacious garden. In the mouth, overly tart and sweet. Astringent. Undrinkable.

This is showing really really well. Very soft and silky, leading me to believe it's better drunk now than later. A little heat is noticeable, but it's not obtrusive. Now I remember why I bought so many Turley's back in the day...

Very good California zin. Classic tastes of blackberries and that brambly, vegetal characteristic so typical of this grape in California. Hot, but appropriately so. Pairing excellently with Jim's smoked tri-tip.

Just had the 2005 version which was much superior. This just didn't seem to have the same depth and definition that I've come to expect from turley.

Heavy Zin with a lot of fruit on the front pallette andthen falls off to me. The fruit on the front is very tasty, and matched the Pollo campero well. The slight spicyness of of the coating of the chicken cut into what the others saw as heavy oak, spice, pepper on the back of the wine. I agree whole heartedly with others that this needs to be drunk soon.

Big spicy raspberry and dark/black cherry nose, with some oaky bite. More big fruit on the palate, with nicely balanced acidity and tannin. Unfortunately, the oak spice is a bit overpowering, and overpowers the tongue.

Poured with a Vinturi. Even with a head cold, the red fruit and cracked pepper is an absolute standout. A wonderful wine with a long and complex finish.

Rich mixed berry friuit with pencil lead, spice, and raisiny flavors, very focused, ample tannins and structure, maybe a little closed and tight, not as highly extracted as most Turley Zins, good finish

Started off as a proper Zinfandel, very un-Turley-like, but with an hour or so of air it has turned out to be an excellent wine. Rich, ripe fruit, with smoke and some spice behind the red fruit, this still isn't very Turely-like, but it's definitely Zinfandel. Probably one of my favorite 2006 Zins.

What a great Zin! Brambly, bright red cherry and plum notes. Very peppery and perfect for a medium-rare grilled New York Strip. The texture of the wine was amazing, but I can't find the right descriptor. I drank this very young but I can't see it getting better. Best I've ever had from this vineyard. I did not notice the "illegal herbs" Tanzer was referring to.
