St. Anne's Crossing Zinfandel Reserve Loyalist

Popped and poured...a little tart to start but quickly taken over by red fruit, spice and a little tannin. A well made wine with a little time left, but still don't understand how this winery can price this as high as it does ($150/bottle). When you can accumulate it at half price during one of their specials, that's the way to buy it.

I like it but just barely. Not the best year for reds. Not the best of the ultra high priced 1 barrel limited Zins from this winery. Fruit is fading, color still dark, but also beginning to move toward that lighter garnet, ever so slightly raisiny flavor profile. Not much acidity left so it's riding on the coattails of its high alcohol content. That gives it a sense of backbone anyway on its finish. If you have these drink them …
