Gilles Robin, Crozes-Hermitage, Papillon

A very nice suprise. Last time I drank this wine, 6 months ago, the wine tasted as it was long over the top, the fruit diminishing and taste becoming bland. But today the wine shows a lot of fruit, very nice red berries, plums, well integrated tannins, a touch of smoke in the aftertaste and unfortunately a bit metalic taste at the back of my tounge. Dark berries. liqorice and viols. Pleasant, but a little thinner than expected.

same as previous note - pleasant, not distinctive.

very nice syrah - meat, tar, and earth on the nose; dark plums and tobacco on the palate with an earthy minerally finish. doesn't hold up well overnight though, and is probably not meant for cellaring.
