Long decant this time then vacuumed for 3 days.....second time Herald has given me this as a gift. Jeweled transparent but deep ruby colour. Nose of forward clove and cinnamon spice with a healthy dose of sous bois......definitely the deeper end of the piano scale and surprisingly balanced and accessible at such a young age (something you don't associate with Faiveley). Bird's Eye View of 2011 Burgundy-The 2014 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco) : Ruby. Crackling black Pommard fruit, good ripeness and not too tannic, resulting in more symmetry and less harshness. Very good.

Christmas gift from Herald, who bought a barrel at auction and recently took delivery from Faiveley. Lovely, bright, translucent purple-tinged maroon colour. Nose of gorgeous spicy oak and a seductive bass-toned note of sous-bois wild strawberries in the background. Palate is very accessable for a young Faiveley....strong tannins, naturally, but in check and leaving enough room to enjoy the belly-warming spicy red fruit. Lots of cinnamon stick and cardamon.
