This needed to be decanted...dang. Anyway, dark and bitter chocolate with some funk. Lots of tannins. I think it will be better on day 2. I was ok for me. Think its a steak wine for sure.

Medium dark ruby, opaque. Black cherry nose. Medium bodied, black cherry, dry finish. Nice, balanced, pleasant dark red fruit.

same notes as before but not nearly as much funk, very grapey when first opened, gets a little more character with time, still quite dry and a very nice wine, especially with sausages and tomatoes.

Lots of funk on the nose that didn't blow off even on night 2...rich dolcetto, quite dark and full, chocolate, earth, plum, strong tannins but not too tigh, this could get better with a little more time...86 or 87

The fruit was much more muted in this bottle. Initially had a funky finish, felt to be corked. Let the bottle sit for hours, however, and the funk blew off. Fruit started to come through, but still a disappointment.

Deep purple color. Aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, and licorice. This is a plump full bodied wine. Dark fruit and slightly tart cherry flavors. Silky smooth tannins. Slight heat on the finish but I am getting over a sore throat so it may have well been that affecting my taste. I've never had a Dolcetto before and I was extremely impressed with the clean full fruit aspect of this wine.
