A vibrant dark ruby red color. Glowing. This is showing especially well tonight. Pure red berry fruit on the nose. Quite perfumed - cherry and wild red berries. Some earth and spice showing through. Oak nicely integrated at this point and doesn’t weight the nose down as much as it did in its youth. On the palate, this has good grit and energy. Concentrated and ripe red fruits with good purity and power. Impressive backbone of acidity gives the wine …

Phil's impromptu tasting fun (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney) : From Coravin. Initially cellar stink/wet clay which blows off revealing ripe black fruits, sweet spice, a little black liquorice and burnt twigs (?), wet dog. Medium plus intensity acidity almost feels adjusted, black fruit, alcohol warmth, tannins are woody flavoured but silky and persistent, all travels long but it's a little too 'big' for me. Time may help.

A rich dark brick red color. Still youthful in apprearance. This was quite open tonight and full of cherry and wild red berries. Still some oak influence but it was more integrated and showed well. On the palate this has impressive vibrancy and a chewy texture with fine tannins and noticeable dry extract on the mid palate that I found quite appealing. Decent length in the finish. It’s best showing yet and still quite young. This may all come together. …

A blood red, with just a touch of orange/browning but still quite ruby and transculent color. Some signs of age on edges. Nose of ripe dark cherry and red berries. Initially the fruit dominates, but as it opens in the glass I get notes of spices and something savory as well. And then spearmint. A bit oaky. On the palate, a nice silky texture and ripe but tart cherry and red berry and plum flavors. Again the oak here is …

So, classic story of visiting the estate while of holiday. Having a great time and buying some wine. Didn’t really think too much about it and called them back from storage. Not a domaine that gets much attention, so I had modest expectations opening this. But then, wow. Delicious on the nose. Very enticing. Brambles and liquorice on the nose. Lifted. Red and blue fruits. This elegance continues on the palate. Red and black fruits. Very bright. There is a …

Light+ mahogany, to orang-ing rim. Classic pong/ intense barnyard aromas, sweat, a touch of horse, sous-Bois, very much tertiary full throttle. The palate is sturdy (masculine Pommard typicity) yet with a juiciness and flesh core, more expressive than expected. Fruits are red apples, with some dark fruit too. Good powerful example, fresh lively acidity comes across as quite brutish. Perhaps a bit too much pong and muscle?

Weekly tasting group RWP #291: Burgundy 2009 (@ VD) : Expressive bouquet with vanilla, oak and red as well as dark berries. On the palate red and dark berries as well, herbs and spices, beautiful acidity, a touch of sweetness and round tannin with still a pleasant bite. Elegant and beautiful wine with good complexity.

Great bottle. Opened up prior to thanksgiving dinner. Still has plenty of life in it. Enjoy now till 2026.

Wow, what an exceptional Burgundy. We have visited Chateau de Pommard three times with an increasing appreciation for the wines produced. The 2009 is very powerful, but elegant now. It will lay down for another decade or so. An enormous sip!

very full, oaky and lots of tannins. Much too earlier to drink, but should be great in a couple of years!
