Blind N Rhones : Served blind. Purple colour. A little lighter than the preceding bottle. Clearly decent fruit under there, but a little glossy on the surface - stems? reduction? oak yet to integrate? Probably the least charming wine of the tasting - it's just rolled up in a mid-range BMW 3 series and keeps on dropping hints about its fab new car.

Saturday night with yet more home made burgers (At home in leafy West London) : Night 2. This has come together a little more - perhaps more complete at the finish, but also the glossiness is a little more apparent.

Enjoyed with home made wagyu burgers after a long, long day. Threw off a bit of sediment. Lovely nose, dark and red fruited, autumnal forest floor after the rain. On the palate, lovely balance (and it's a delightful 12.5% abv) good acidity some cherry stone, real liveliness to it with medium length at the finish. Pleased to have a couple of these but I find that as I explore Cote Rotie I become aware of a slight thinness at the …

1st of a case, medium body, noble purple with a bright red core.some signs of development on the nose which wafts in and out of focus, a bit of smoke, black current fruit, dark cherry, a touch of warming spice. More dark berries in the palate. Just a little fine tannin left to resolve, it feels like it can open out a little more and develop more complexity, but it’s good early drinking now and great with food. 12.5%

Cherries and bell pepper in the bouquet. On the palate a firm amount of cherries, a bit unripe, a lot of acidity and sticky tannin. Not really friendly now. Wait at least another 5 – 8+ years. 89+

One Coravin Glass. Fresh bouquet with sour cherries, blueberries, black pepper and some vanilla. The palate is quite crisp with fine tannins and a good structure. A more delicate Cote Rotie from a classic vintage, this should develop gracefully over the 1-2 decades.

Light in color, the wine tells you its ready to drink, as it's easy to find the earthy, peppery, red fruits on the nose and medium bodied palate. This is ready to go.

Domaine Stephane Ogier masterlcass with Stephane Ogier (wine ark alexandria) : Initially a little closed but, upon agitation, that lovely soft berries note with blackberry spice, the pepper is there but more muted. Cream and slightly caramel oak. Perfumed floral top notes. Lovely nose. And so it proves on the palate. Yum.

Les Lieux-dits de Cote Rotie - Deconstructing Cote Rotie with Stephane Ogier (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : medium plus intensity aromas of blossom, blackberry, almost wild raspberry, jubey note, exceedingly pretty with some sweet sweat. In the mouth it' juicy with blackberry, fleshy, peppery spice that slides into oaky tannins that are tight and drying but silky. Long finish. This is equally pretty on the palate. Very good. Compelling. Superb.

Michel & Stéphane Ogier Cellar Visit and Tasting (Ampuis) : Barrel tasting at Ogier. All black fruit comes across as super vibrant and precocious.Recently replanted, so this is from 4 yo vines, with its label/name still TBD, this vineyard within the Côte Blonde lieu-dit is just above Mouline. This will join Belle Helene and Lancement as Ogier's 3rd single lieu-dit bottling. I am not sure I prefer this in 2013 vs what I expect will be the final Côte-Rôtie Reserve …

Michel & Stéphane Ogier Cellar Visit and Tasting (Ampuis) : Barrel tasting at Ogier. Now we tasted 4 barrels that are destined for the Reserve bottling, but did not combine them into a blend. We tasted from But de Mont, Berthelon, la Viallière and Champon, with Berthelon definitely my favorite. Overall I expect this vintage to be more accessible vs the 2014, seeming less backward today, and with lots of fresh black fruit and savory spice.
