13%. PnP. Medium red, orange tinted rim. Continually evolving nose of spices in a cigar box, dark chocolate, blackberry, plums, black cherries, something like roses. SO says smell reminds her of salted caramel chocolate cake. Slightly sweet on the attack, rounded mouthfeel, balanced structure- food friendly tartness, tannins still giving some firmness but well integrated. Long finish. Purchased from Garagiste in 2007, delivered 2008, stored temperature controlled since delivery. This bottle is in its peak drinking window.

Black currant spice and cherry. Simple and easy does it. Short finish.

No expectations for this wine from super warm year. This wine has aged well. Lighter styled merlot but with good energy, acidity and lift to this wine. Solid secondary flavors. The weight of the wine makes it really versatile pairing as I had w brisket and soft polenta and worked really well.

6 bottles purchased from Garagiste, 4 with corks so dry they would not come out. Still 2 left so hoping at least one can be opened. Interestingly and annoyingly Garagiste has a only 60 day return policy if a wine is flawed or defective. 60 days for a product that can lay down for years? Seems a bit short sighted in the customer loyalty department

extremely dry cork is the main reason I would say 'drink now'.

After a disappointing bottle earlier on, this one really delivered. Everything has smoothed out. Presents with authority, no flab, and still plenty of fruit. Very good value, now that it's aged a bit. Believe it still has some enjoyable years ahead of it.

Based on this bottle, still some life to it. Italian-inflected Merlot--plenty of acidity to make this a very interesting drink --did not come across as flabby or sweetish.

Second of 2 btls from Garagiste. Tobacco, tea, underbrush and dark berry fruits. The fruit flavors are nicely developed, showing some complexity. Tannins have softened yet still maintain a grip. I like how this is drinking. Merlot from Friuli is not a bad idea. Certainly was not a victim of the '03 heat. No big hurry on these, but they are in a nice place right now.

Strong secondary notes of mint, soil and cedar over plum and light chocolate. Clean and well fruited, showing strong mid palate and a medium finish. Similar to a well age old school Cali Cab. Pretty good and in a more traditional style. Might be called "weedy" by those who prefer the more modern styles.

Nicely balanced at this point, enough tannins to even it out, a bit lacking on the back end to rate higher though...

Decent - sweet and ripe cherry fruit on the palate, with a dry finish, nose is a little stale and musty. Cork was a little dried out - maybe end of life. This still tasted good though.

Opened this 1/2 through dinner and did not decant. Tannins here are still pretty strong and a bit intrusive. Nice wine but can't say I was moved either. I still have the other 1/2 in the fridge and will see how it developed

I didn't pay enough attention, but remember being ambivalent about the wine. I will score the next bottle.

drank slightly cool, without decanting - this was very good - none of the vegetal notes commented on by other tasters. some cocoa and sour cherry notes on the nose. palate was pretty balanced, nice juicy acidity, slightly sweet cherry and plum fruit - reasonably long dry finish. very nice and good with food - for the money an excellent italian red.

Tannic and dry at this point: surely would have been helped by more time and air.
