Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days where it displayed a slow, steady evolution throughout. The 2018 pours a pretty, deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe Morello cherry, carnations, bergamot, sandalwood, dried green herbs and dry earth. Bruised strawberry and old library notes showing on Day 2. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ …

An impressive showing from a winery I was not familiar with - lovely earthy nose with solid, balanced and tasty fruit on the palate. Classic

Dark, burnt crimson colour. Small berries and currants in the nose. A hint of toastiness or some dried herbs? All follows through seamlessly on the palate and finish with a dry, medium length, dry tanning finish. Decent for a supermarket value Brunello

Columbia Dinner at Tiro A Segno : Decanted for about 30 minutes but definitely benefitted from more air as the tannins softened and the wine gained some color and body. May do best at this time with a 90 minute decant. Notes on the medium bodied palate of red cherry, raspberry, plum, earth, along with some sour cherry, herbs and cedar. The acidity is relatively balanced, and the tannins are relatively integrated (both depend on the decanter time). Will continue …

If you're really spending serious money on Sangiovese based wines from Tuscany, why do you go for Brunello over Chianti Classico? Usually it's because you want that very tart acidity. You're looking for that structure. You want that restraint and elegance. You're looking for the highest quality expression of Sangiovese. Perhaps this isn't it when you get darker fruit notes to go with the front of mouth tartness? Meaning this wine engages your palate completely? It might not reach the …

The 2018 Terre Nere Brunello di Montalcino is a wine I never heard of. It is a darker almost light brown wine. A better nose than in mouth flavor. Pure aromatics of cherry and cedar wood. In mouth huge tannins and a closed wine. Why the rush to show a wine clearly built for aging. Generally lovely future here but aside from herbal notes and a complex wood background, the wine shows little fruit. Dried cherry fruit at best which …

A flicker of promise PNP but quickly faded to an undrinkable mess. Second day worse. Will hold remaining bottles for many years to see what happens.
