Loire Valley Cabernet Franc (Wine Library, Oxford Street) : A little oaky sweet spice, chocolate, dark hued fruits are non delineated, a little herbaceous, pencil shaving note, mineral but with a fruit sweet core. Juicy, fleshy but with some concentration, those dark fruits and chocolate notes are joined by some coffee bean bitterness and a drying powdery rasp. Time.

I was flabbergasted, amazing, delicious , all I need in Cabernet Franc, so creamy, tamed tannins, WOTN we just had one , truely seducted.

It looms a bit at first, thick blackcurrant and pleasantly musty cigar. And the first impression wasn't great, but it is really lovely as it opens up, especially on the palate -- graphite coming in, fresh-cut cedar, sawdust, juniper, fresh blackberry, raspberries off the vine, just dusty and old-fashioned aromas that I adore, over a mix of black and red fruit. Some clay, some marker… holy crap, these are the smells of my elementary school art room (and if we’re …

Cooked raspberries, cherries. Canned asparagus, green bell pepper. Dust, cinnamon. Medium bodied, medium - tannins. Everything’s really well-integrated. This is definitely in its drinking window now.

My last bottle of this soulful, earthy, and delicious wine. I have little to add to numerous previous notes. I had to kiss a lot of frogs to find this princely Loire Valley Cab Franc. I love this producer.

Earthy and peppery, violet, plums. Ripe and warm on the palate. Disappointing follow through from a promising nose.

Nothing to add to multiple previous notes. Excellent Loire Valley Cab Franc. Earthy, balanced, medium weight wine with lots of varietal character.

See multiple previous notes on this wine. Little to add except that the herbal notes are bit more prominent in this bottle. Nice minerals. Food-friendly Cab Franc from the Loire.

Opaque purple with garnet tint. Opulent nose of leather, tobacco, blackberry, sweet plum, and cedar. Ripe, medium palate of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, plum, minerals, and bell pepper. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. Supple tannins. Superb balance and QPR.

Dark purple with a ruby rim. Nose of earth, leather, smoke, spice, meat, and blackberry. Ripe palate of blackberry, blueberry, spice, minerals, and tobacco. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. Sweet, youthful tannins. A young, delicious, balanced Loire Valley red. I wish I had more than 5 bottles of this wine left in the cellar. Excellent QPR.

Tannins are smooth and balanced with the typical cabernet franc fruit. Might improve with age, but I am OK to drink it now. Typical, good expression of Bourgueil overall.

It is always nice when a French wine bought in the US tastes the same as it did in France. I spent nine days recently in Paris and the Loire Valley trying to better understand Loire Valley wines. We kissed a lot of frogs trying to find delicious Loire Valley reds from Chinon, Bourgeuil, etc. One of the first break-though wines was a Bourgueil by Yannick Amirault, ordered at the Chateau de Noizay. Emboldened by this success, I ordered this …

Ordered off the wine list at Atelier Joel Robuchon Etoile in Paris. Dark, dark garnet. Nose of black cherry, fig, earth and tobacco. Ripe medium to full palate of fresh red and dark fruit. Lovely savory element. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity that keeps you reaching for your glass. Sweet tannins. Well-balanced, food-friendly wine.
