Brought this to First Culinary Restaurant @ AMK for a farewell dinner. One of our former colleagues will be posted to China. We ordered Crispy Roasted Pork, Salted Egg Yolk Fried Fish Skin, HK Kai Lan with Sausages, Braised Bean Curd, Pork Ribs King, Brinjal with Minced Meat, Kungfu Roasted Duck, Fried Teochew Kway Teow and Pancakes with Bean Paste. Purplish brown in colour. Notes of ripe blackcurrants, dark chocolate, forest floor, cedar, black coffee, and a touch of herbaceous. …

Opened this wine at New Ubin Seafood (Stevens Road) over lunch with a very close former colleague. We ordered the USDA Black Angus Choice Rib-Eye (Boss-Style) and the See Hum Laksa. Wine was bottle breathed for 4 hours before consumption. Fresh purple in colour with notes of blueberries, earthy minerals, paprika, and a dose of rustic, smoky oak. Made with Carménère, Chile's signature grape, the lush fruit flavors is well-integrated with the soft tannins, providing a smooth yet structured mouthfeel. …

Brought this to New Ubin Seafood (Stevens) for a family dinner with my in-laws, sister-in-law, nephew and niece. We had har cheong chicken, pork satay, green dragon vegetable, oyster omelette, beef ribeye, lamb chop, carbonara, chai poh kway teow, garlic-baked crab, salted egg crab and kaya toast. Decated for an hour before consumption. Dark brooding purple-brown, with relentless notes of aged leather, polished oak, dark coffee, milk chocolates and ripe berries. Elements well integrated and delivered pleasure in every sip. …

Rich fruit nose, slightly rough round the edges. Not a bad buy

Clear, deep ruby color. Clean nose, but missing the typical intense cassis notes of young Carmenere. This one is fully mature now. Still good, clean, with a solid body of medium acidity, medium tannins and medium+ alcohol (13,5%). But for me it has lost its beauty and elegance of its younger days. Fruit is in the back, tertiary notes of earth, smoke and oak are taking place and that is not what I like in a Chilean Carmenere. So drink …

Quite a nice wine for its price point. Deep violet, black fruit, smoky and med-full body. Green pepper and herbs are present but not to the degree as many Carmeneres display. Should buy more and hold for the value.

Forward nose of capsicum and celery around a core of black fruit and coffee. More to the elegant side with moderate concentration, highlighted acidity and tannic grip. Fairly long with modest complexity. Different than last time tasted with less fat and concentration.

Dark ruby. Attractive nose of cassis, blackberry jam, loam, smoke and herbs. On the palate however it somewhat disappoints given the expectations one has thanks to the nose, being somewhat diluted with astringent tannins and high acidity. Medium aftertaste. Might improve by gaining in roundness and flesh with mid-term cellaring.

On the nose fruit is ripe but slightly cooked and there is an aroma of coal or burnt wood, also the tell-tale herbaceousness and wet earth. In the palate it is medium bodied with lots of fruit. Nice wine if a little one-dimensional.

Opaque purple with a forward nose of violet, mint, celery, soya wrapped around a core of blackberry and black plum. Well blended in oak evident by coffee & chocolate notes. Velvety and very juicy on palate with a supple structure. Soft acidity and supple/ripe tannins balance generous alcohol/13.5% and relative full body. Overall a wine made from just ripe fruit, expressive and mellow. Very enjoyable and honest. To drink over the next 2-3 years.

Black pepper on the nose and blackberries and a little chocolate on the palate. Relatively low alcohol (13.5%) makes this a good weekday sipper. Good QPR at $13.

Attractive dusty nose with black fruits. Nice palate. There's very forward fruit, but it's well balanced. Bit of a kick on the finish.

Deep crimson; blackberries, dark chocolate, black cherries; ripe blackberry, slightly jammy, velvety, full body, decent structure, firm ripe tannins, lingering finish. Plush with enough structure and acidity to go well with food. This very ripe, oaked and full-bodied style works well with this grape. A pleasure to drink and great value @ $14.15.
