Domaine Newman Monthélie Reserve Cuvee Claire

Had it for lunch at Bistro de l'Hotel in Beaune with a great meal. Dark almost purple ruby color. Jumps out of the glass with dark fruit, spices and some well integrated oak. Dense and long for a wine of this "simpler" pedigree. Beautiful structure and overall balance. Great to pair with food without breaking the bank... To be completely honest, I liked it better than the really good Pommard of the same producer I had a day before.
