James Suckling/Zachy's Super Tuscany Tasting (City Winery (Varick Street in NYC)) : Approx 1000 bottles made total. This wine is not made every year, but rather when the grapes are up for it. Blend of sangiovese and merlot. This was a bit easy and almost sweet. Less of a strong backbone than some of the other high end wines, but clear that it needs more time. Enjoyable.

On the nose, it came off as murky with dried red fruits, herbal tea, minerals, undergrowth and earth. On the palate, it was rich with an airy lift, intense red fruits, and charred woods, yet it was unbalanced and cloying. The finish was long with sour, bitter red fruits.

rode kleur, nog fruitige neus, kersen, ook mooi chocolade toon, iets krachtigs, smaak maakt indruk, heeft veel structuur, alles is goed aanwezig, een mond vol wijn, wel goed gerijpt en nu mooi drinkbaar, wijn heeft echt zijn tijd nodig gehad, indrukwekkend en heeft nog wel even te gaan

Very nice. Popped and poured. A lean, elegant wine. Dark ruby and showing solid back-bone. Better than the last bottle. Not at all aging, but a bit thin on the finish. Still somewhat closed and it may continue to improve.

Nice chianti. Deep red. Somewhat closed, but opened with some air time. A bit of leather after dark fruit. Good balance with Italian dinner. Soft tannins, easy to drink. 3 left in the cellar and I would guess 3 -5 years left, but why wait. Ready to go.

Diep robijn rood, geur is rijp rood fruit, licht chocolade impressie met diepgang en complexiteit, smaak is concentratie en body. krachtig met rijpe ronde tonen en veel diepgang, wijn heeft even tijd nodig maar komt dan prachtig naar voren, nog een lange weg voor de boeg

Dark ruby color, focused depth and tannins. I don't know what the other reviewer said, but it seems as if he liked it and so did I! Drank straight from the bottle and the wine was very youthful and a bit dry on the palate, but the fruit and balance came through. Hopefully it will soften and the fruit will emerge further with a few more years in the cellar (which I will do before I open the next bottle).

Diep rood met donkere tint. Geur is intens met veel rood fruit en warmte, concentratie. Smaak is krachtig met veel concentratie en intensiteit. niet te overheersend. alles wel op zijn plaats. wijn komt jong over, nog stevige tannines. heel mooi
