Flawed Of the many Behrens & Hitchcock wines I have had, this is the 1st one to be undrinkable. That said, I don't believe it was the synthetic cork.

2006 vintage

Very heavy body. Has plenty of big, highly concentrated fruit left, although the flavors are more savory at this point, with just a touch of blue/black fruit notes. Dark, chewy, charcoal like tannins on the back end but not much acidity, so it seems a little flabby. Still doesn't seem quite integrated. Perhaps the synthetic cork prevents a more typical aging profile. Not sure if it will get better with more time.

Initial port like quality... then it opens up to a gorgeous bottle of wine. Really quite evolved!

Slow o'ed for four hours. Brought this as a fun mystery wine to a wine dinner and it was matched up against a 2001 Cali Cab and a 2003 Tuscan. Sampled 2/17/12. Decanted 2 hours, and it needed 4. Hate the purple rubber stopper as it's ability to hold a seal is questionable and each bottle is a crap shoot, but this bottle was still very young and the rubber did its job well. Opened but not decanted, and allowed to sit for 2 hours. A bit more graphite than I personally like, but well-balanced and drinking well. Solid through 2012+ and likely in its prime drinking window.

sealed with a plastic cork: Perhaps a bit more advanced than the last bottle....straightforward but pleasantly fruity nose...fairly resolved tannins, medium plus finish. I prefer to let petites age longer than this, but a dead 2000 a few months ago (sealed with plastic cork) prompted me to drink sooner rather than later.

popped and poured,....bottle sealed with plastic cork,but it didn't present the accelerated aging a recent bottle of the 2000 exhibited. dark fruits...full bodied..nice mouthfeel.....lingering finish..tannins present but balanced...after a couple hours, the tannins did come to the fore

I really liked this one. While there is still a little volatility on the nose, the palate is just fantastic. Rich and velvety with black and blue fruit notes and underlying meineral and chocolate tones. Just gorgeous in the mouth. Can pair well with food now. This would be a good time to drink more of these.

Inky dark purple. Big alcohol shows through, but the fruit profile and balance is otherwise pretty good. Served on the cool side, this is not bad, but not exactly my cup of tea either.

Whoa! Inky black, really dark inky black. The nose on this is a little tight, but there's some fruit in there somewhere. I love the silky mouth feel of this wine. The high alcohol is certainly noticeable, but there's enough fruit to keep it mostly in check. The tannins are smooth and plentiful. This wine was a monster! Decanted for about 8 hours prior to tasting, and then poured back into the bottle. Very, very dark color. A bit hot on the palate, but very fruit forward. I realize I committed infanticide on this one, but just couldn't resist. Glad I still have one more.

Seattle Tasting Group does 'BBQ Reds' (Issaquah, WA, USA) : This wine is pitch black. On the nose I find heat but little else with some faint notes of blueberry eventually sneaking out. Wow, the palate provides and explosion of blackberry with huge structure. This is grippy and juicy.
