Walla Walla (Amy and Scott's house) : Slow O'd a couple hours, as if that would help. I appreciate the lean frame on this. The funk is there but not overbearing. The fruit is a mix of red and blue, and dry. Green olives and some wet rock minerality are present.

Fruit that is all over the spectrum with great minerality to keep it from becoming flabby. Green bell pepper, smoked brisket, candied prunes�..this asks you to patient for an hour plus to evolve. Perfect with our Easter lamb chops marinated in olive oil, rosemary, lemon zest, and garlic.

1 hour in glass. V - clear with hue, deep purple, medium meniscus. High viscosity. Nose is redder, palate is darker fruit. N - Cherry, plum, green herbs and bramble. P - Plum, black currant, black cherry. Tobacco, coffee and cola. S - Dry, Med+ body, medium acidity, 14+, Fine/med tannins. Med+ length and complexity. Smooth, pleasing, light on the Rocks funk, long on the finish. Black and blue fruit mixes with mineral and green olive elements, producing a (slightly) sweet elixir that’s worth the tariff.

Good. Typical Rocks syrah. Blind taste test w 2019 No Girls. 2-2 draw for third year in a row.

So, these have rested a couple years and I had been reluctant to open one. However, fate intervened and the cork was pulled. Sweet juicy tidbits, aroma and flavors of tar yummmm. A brooding bottle that shows some really alive flavors and character . Drunk over two night, I was very impressed . Night two showed a milder side with a nice funk on the back end. I am a fan.

Definitely a Rocks expression of Syrah. Some blue and black fruit, and lots of savory flavors, from smoked meat to roasted mushroom to bacon. Not for the faint of heart.

So many flavors

Heady aromatics of blackberry, dark plum, olive, peppered meat, savory herbs, and wet stones. Full bodied, red and black fruits, umami, smoked meat, and salinity. Will age well.

Wow! Outstanding right out of the gate! Very smooth, integrated, and balanced rocks district vintage. Bottle did not take long to finish off. That good. Well done mr funk!

For some reason, this bottle didn't do anything for me. I really enjoyed this vintage during an in-person tasting in Walla Walla, but for whatever reason it was way too hot and out of balance when tasting at home. Maybe a bad bottle.
