Magnum. 2 hr decant before back in the bottle and taken to the restaurant. Cork was dry but held together nicely. Open bottle for 1.5 hours before first glass. Classic aged Bordeaux nose with forest floor and earthy notes. Mostly secondary flavors with a small amount of fruit coming through mid palate. What a terrific showing. Opened as a birth year bottle for a dear friend. This was absolutely perfect. Dark cherries, slate, elegant spices, meatiness, and lively acidity. Yet, the body was so ethereal and the finish was so persistent. Absolutely loved it. A truly regal wine.

Opened at Eastbluff. The 1983 Napas I've had this year have all been excellent and this Diamond Creek is no exception. Dark cherries, slate, light spices, and medium acidity, with a solid finish to go with that beautiful classic aged nose. Very pleasant.

We had the volcanic hill on 1/19/20 and on 1/25/20. These take at least 4 hours to open both bottles were drinking very well at hour 4 and the red fruit and floral notes really started singing. Might go another 5 yrs? This is an amazing 37 year old cab I recommend opening it in the morning for a dinner time glass

Recently obtained via auction from K&L and allowed to rest 1 month. Lower neck fill with a good quality cork (removed via Ah So)...moist only at the end. Part of our No Wine Under 25 (Yr.) tasting. A medium garnet coloring with a hint of bricking on the rim. The nose gave off some fruit (black cherry, blackberry) and then faded to mature notes of cedar, leather and chocolate. A very smooth wine and drinking well.

You wouldn't believe it's an 83, holding up every well. Juicy strawberry liqueur, leather saddle, black currant, still tons of fruit. Tannins are mild but very much still there.

Thinning out a bit, but a lovely dusty complex nose of light cassis tinged with mint, bit of funk. Medium to light concentration but good palate overall, with funk adding to a core of mature cab "mulberry" type fruit. Perfect with grilled steak.

I would confidently say that this is past its prime and more so past being palatable. At first the nose was intriguing. Offering plenty of ash, damp earth, minerals, and bitter chocolate. The palate however was offensive and out of balance. Sour red fruits up front with a minerality that was metallic and steely, piercing acidity with no fruit to back it up. Medim red-brown with orange rim. Clean nose which requires at least 25 minutes of aeration in decanter to show anything. Moderate to heavy sediment. The bouquet ultimately shows mint, cedar, black cherry and blackberries. The palate is full-bodied, with heavy, hard, astringent tannins. The tannins give the wine a dry finish which is definitely a detriment. Tasted at Brasserie with Don Mason. Medium ruby with orange/brick rim. Moderate sediment. Immediate nose closed. After 30 minutes, the nose opens to show mint, cedar, currants and black cherries. Youthful palate with same flavors. Still quite tannic. Plenty of fruit left. Long, slightly tannic finish. Will continue to improve.

Deep ruby with red rim. Mild to moderate sediment (not decanted). Immediate nose shows prominent fruit and oak. Within 15 minutes, the nose shows complex aromas of cigar, mint and chocolate (never losing the fruit). Palate follows, with abundant but fairly supple tannins. Long finish. Wonderful, and will definitely improve.

On the palate, it is somewhat austere and tannic, but with surprising fruit and drinkability. Short. Slightly hard finish. Good wine for the vintage. 5-11-15-7: 88/100.
