Decanted 2hrs. Ready to go right out of the bottle. Deep purple in color, minot bricking on the edges, not really showing it's age. Pronounced, developing aromas of crushed rock, black olive, bacon fat, game, lilac, lavendar, savoury, blackberry, lamb's leather, dried black and blue fruits (plums, blackberry, blueberry), smoke, tar, sous bois/old wood, cedar, baking spice, blackberry compote- really packed in on the nose. In the mouth, the wine is dry, med acid, med tannin, high alcohol, full body, …

This is the best $8 wine I've ever had. It's also the best wine I've drank 10 years after it's window. Sorry I don't have more.

In its sweet spot. Smooth as a baby's Big blackberry, hits every spot( front, mid and back palate) with a sour cherry finish. 4 appearance, 12 aroma, 17 taste and mouth feel, and 10 age ability.

Decanted 1 hour and it could have used more. This is a hearty wine and could stand up to just about any roasted meat.

The cork was packed with sediment and it was dark black/purple. In the decanter, dark fruit with some forest floor can through and some sediment was evident during the process of pouring. The glass was a deep purple center and brick colored edge and after about 30 minutes in the air dark current and cola came out. This is an elegant wine, smooth, with a medium finish. Still had a musty smell, but I figure that is just part of …

Powerful dank root or mushroom smell with a wet cedar aroma. It was like drinking from a barrel tasting. I enjoyed it, but it almost seemed corked? I have only had one corked wine bottle and it was just plan bad...This wasn't like that, but it had a characteristic in it that reminded me of the event. Still have another and hope to get more fruit from it.

Excellent syrah. Ripe, smooth, full fruit, smokey, but restrained. Drinking very well now.

Pretty flat. Nothing really wrong but not memorable.

Drank beautifully with leg of lamb. Very integrated with a defined minerality, and well integrated fruits. A lot of finesse for a Cali Syrah.

Much improved over my previous experience with this wine. Rich with flavor and firm tannins. Still needs some time in the cellar to show its full potential.

Deep red/purple center, red/purple rim with faint signs of age. Reticent on the nose, red plums, straw, a little chocolate and pepper, dusty garrigue. Quite ripe up front, blue berries and raspberries, decent tannin and acidity still, some bubblegum fruit later mixed with smoked meat, road tar, and white chocolate, good length. Excellent syrah in an understated style (not the user overblown, jammy mess), not clear that the fruit will outlast the tannins so probably best to drink sooner, with …

Pre-Thanksgiving with Grannys and Grandpa. Decanted 2hrs and it needed it. After another hour, nose opens up to cherry cobbler, baking spices, bbq, cedar and green pepper. Medium bodied syrah, with flavors of smoky cherry, red current, green tobacco leaf, some cedar and pencil lead. Nice minerality to it that paired fairly well with spice rubbed pork loin and red cabbage. Has at least 5+ years from here. Grannys sez: "it just tastes good".

This wine had a bitter streak of tannin that detracted from some other good flavors.

Deep red, red/purple rim with slight signs of age. Blueberries, toasty, some tobacco, grapey. Blueberries, cranberries, some toasty oak, wet stone, a little buttery, reasonable acidity and tannins still, quite purple, crushed leaves, freshly squeezed grapes, good length. In a good place right now, very clean syrah, that is best with food. Might go somewhere more interesting in the next few years but its not clear.

This was very well balanced, without the overt fruitiness that can come with some syrahs. well polished and shows many great leathery and smokey notes.

Blackberries and blueberries on the nose, along with earth and hints of leather. Additional berries on the palate. Smooth tannins, moderate acidity, well balanced. Lovely wine, but lacked complexity in its flavor profile (perhaps drank too early).

89 Points; More California than Rhone or Australia, obviously. Fruit presence is solid and taste, too. Finish and overall impression was average.

Not as good as in the past but it also suffered from follow a Lewis Syrah which in my book is the best in Cali. A bit too tannic which overpowered the fruit in the wine.

Somewhat monotone profile; shows classic syrah nose; chewy, gamey; violet purple color; deep flavors and long finish, Rhoneish.

This $6 wine is a home run. It has a very good aroma. Scrumptious cherry and black fruits, the tannins are very nice and worked well with the overall wine. Drank great the 2nd day. Balanced, pleasing, much more than you’d expect from just a table wine price. I’m having a hard time not giving it more than an 88. If price was a factor, I would easily push it past 90. Should have bought more.

This wine is a screaming deal at the closeout price it seems to be around at. Much better than the Napa or provencal bottling as it has more balance. Pure fruit, not over oaked or thick, has a decent finish with some structure and acidity to it. A bit over extracted maybe but I was pleasantly surprised by this wine. Besides several 07 CDR's, this has been the best sub $10 bottle Ive had in awhile. Dont hesitate to pick …

This needs some time to open up...initial pop and poor was a bit off-putting. After about 45 minutes in a decanter, it started to come out to play. This bottle was perhaps a bit less forthcoming on the nose, and a bit longer and less astringent on the finish than the last bottle. The last glass, left overnight in the refrigerator, showed very cloudy the next evening...but didn't completely fall off the cliff taste-wise.

Perhaps the best $7.00 and change quaffer I have had in a very long time. Opens up with time...the nose is quite expressive with fruits and evergreen and tar....palate a touch hollow...and it even has a finish!!!! a bit astringent on the finish, but most wines at this price don't have a finish at all.
