We let this sit out and open for three hours in a decanter and HOLY COW, the difference between the sip uncorked and what that wine became was the difference between pucker face and eyes rolling into the back of your head good. We may have simply lucked out, and wines go through cycles, but I’m out to drink it all this summer because it’s punching far above its weight class.

Murky dark red color. Warm red berry aromas. Flabby with little structure or acidity. Earthy dark cherry and dark chocolate liquor flavors with a somewhat tainic finish.

Ok wine, but something odd about it. Acid balance perhaps?

Lots of chocolate and mocha on it.

That has some notes of oak on it. Dark fruit and the small amount of Syrah that is in there (I think only 3%) definately shows through. But just opened as well. Or maybe its just the difference between the Cabernet and the Merlot I just drank showing off. The palate is mineral with a medium finish.

Attractive notes of cherries, pipe tobacco and subtle toasty oak in the nose leads to a fat silky midpalate of black cherry/blackberry and Cassis that coats the palate with ripe tannins and echos into a medium finish that will likely get better w/a year to three in cold storage. Reasonably good value too.

What a difference 6 months makes! Alluring fruit and oak on the nose, dark cherries, cedar and tobacco notes. Palette follows with exceptional balance, a muscular wine with body, acidity, and tannins to last. Cigar, coffee and mocha notes on the finish. This is just getting started, cellar if you can resist drinking it. JB clearly at the top of their game...

Lots of fruit on the nose, oak is minimal. Fresh tart cherry and cranberry on the palette, strong through the mid palette but not long in the finish. Feels a little light bodied at this point, there is Syrah blended typically and this year it is minimal, likely this just needs some cellar time. Has the hallmarks of a wine built to age. Put some in the cellar and wait...
