Inclined at 15° in the morning, opened at lunch time, decanted in the evening and back in the bottle for presentation, there was no sediment, bought the bottle en primeur. Beautiful Margaux. Ready to drink, lots of black fruit and a bit of cherry, tannins well integrated, forest and herbs, in particular thymn, rosemary, tiny bit of cloves, leather, graphite and white chocolate.

The 2015 iteration of Château Giscours is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 17 months in French oak barriques (50% new). The fruit and complexity is lovely, and this was enjoyable with a perfectly medium rare filet mignon. As I sipped on it on its own though, the back of the palate and aftertaste had way too much acidity for me, even after a 6-hour decant. Would be open to trying again in the future, but it needs more age and/or more aeration.

Dark red to rim. Cassis, red fruits, floral notes on the nose. Medium-full bodied, lots of up front ripe fruit, well balanced with good acidity and robust tannins, flavors follow the nose, no aged complexity at this point, medium finish. Pretty modern, would be hard to peg this blind as Margaux or even Bordeaux, but a very enjoyable drink. Will it turn into a classic Margaux with age? Time will tell. An astonishing rendition of Giscours. The interest thing about all of these Margaux is that they "lack" the chocolate / coffee / mocha thing on the nose - instead is just pure raspberry fruit with savory notes in the background. Probably the best Giscours I have ever had. Drinks well now but I would wait for two more years. This note taken after a 14 hour bottle decant.

Delicious middle of the road Margaux that is my "go to" on a normal evening. Drinking the 375's right how and giving the 750's a bit more time. I'll try to stock up on a few more of these if I see them on the secondary market. Great QPR.

Wonderful wine. Outstanding effort from this estate. I have found the 2015’s needing more time than the Left Bank (as well as Right) 2016’s. This one opens nicely with a decant but I’d recommend waiting a year oft two until 2026 or 2027. It was very popular last night at a big wine wedding - but perhaps more in the bones and potential than full realization at this time.

Decanted and back into the bottle an hour before - Pours deep, inky garnet. Licorice, tar, violet, rose, cigar box, black cherry, a bit of sous bois, granite, and top soil on the nose. I’m a high fan of 2nd wines of great estate, they offer in my opinion delicious wines at good prices. As does the La Sirene de Giscours, a blend of 65 % CS, Merlot 30 % and 5 % CF. Bell pepper of the CF, tobacco leaf, black currant, leather, blackberry, medium plus body, dried black fruit finish.

Smooth right from opening. This is the 7th bottle I’ve opened over the past 6 years, and this is the first one that did not need any meaningful decanting. Tannins are well blended. Probably just past its peak and very unlikely to improve. Should drink now. I’ll be consuming the rest of my bottles this year. But they could probably hold up for a bit longer.

Decanted and back into the bottle for 4 hours. Dark magenta, not showing much in signs of age. Pencil shavings show up first on the nose, with soubois, dark cherry, rustic oak, dusty gravel, and tobacco leaf. Palate is both fruity and herbal, with a nice merlot roundness. Feels like this will peak early. I like it now, but probably best in 2-3 years.

Much better from bottle than from barrel, the wine is forward, and ready to offer all its sweet, fresh, soft, red fruits and light floral notes with ease. Drink this while waiting for its big brother to develop.
